ROLLING STONES SINGAPORE SHOW TO BE SIMULCAST LIVE ON GIANT LED SCREEN

Thousands more fans in Singapore will now be able to catch the Rolling Stones’ performance next month, thanks to a free live simulcast as part of an open-to-the-public music festival, ‘Marina Bay Sands Rocks Singapore’, at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza on 15 March 2014.

The ‘Marina Bay Sands Rocks Singapore’ festival is part of Sands for Singapore, the integrated resort’s corporate social responsibility programme. The free simulcast of The Rolling Stones concert at the Marina Bay Sands Grand Ballroom on the Event Plaza will be projected live in high definition on a giant LED screen measuring at least 12 metres wide. The concert will be pumped out through a high power, high quality Meyer sound system that will be suspended eight metres off the ground, providing an incredible audio visual experience for festival-goers.

As part of this programme, Sands for Singapore is also celebrating the talents of Singapore’s local legendary music scene with live music from popular local rock acts including – A-List with Douglas O., Heritage, Jive Talkin’, John Molina & Krueger, and ZulTania. The Marina Bay Sands Rocks Singapore festival will start at 4pm. This will be followed by the live simulcast of global legends The Rolling Stones 14 On Fire concert, broadcast live from 8pm.

The Rolling Stones 14 On Fire concerts in Asia are presented by Prudential and Eastspring Investments.

“We take great pride in giving back to the local community in meaningful ways through Sands for Singapore. By securing this live feed of The Rolling Stones 14 On Fire, we will give all fans the chance to enjoy the best of global entertainment in a unique manner” said Mr. George Tanasijevich, President and Chief Executive Officer of Marina Bay Sands.

Tickets arrived in the mail today!

I'm new to the forum - I currently live in Singapore so if you have any questions about getting to the venue or other details, please fire away.

Does anyone have more information about the venue? I'm genuinely worries that those standing tickets will be obstructed view (unless you don't think of Aliza's butt as an obstruction. Oh well, it will be a new experience. At this point, I'm still planning to try to go, although work and family obligations may come in the way.

I don't have new information.
But I think it won't be obstructed view.
Standing area is obviously better than "VIP" in block 101 and 106.

Or quite high stage like Tokyo Dome ?
Maybe not...

As this is the travel info thread for Singapore I kindly recomend you post all travel options to the venue (and back) without anybody asking. Does MRT stop operations sometime at night?

My travel tip - you need a passport to enter the casinos, so if you are planning to piss your money away after the show, don't forget it.

The shape of the stage looks like the outdoors stage. Is that really going to fit into the Balloroom? I hope it's going to be a smaller and lower version of the stadium stage.

I checked the statistics for the Grand Ballroom and the ceiling is actually pretty high - 11 meters.

Will do - By far the best option to get to and from the venue will be the MRT system. The best station for Marina Bay Sands is Bayfront, which can be accessed from either the Circle Line or the Downtown Line. The station has direct access to the venue. Last trains out of Bayfront are just before midnight.

Whether arriving by MRT or taxi, note that the venue is not actually in the Marina Bay Sands hotel iteself, but in the larger complex across the street that houses the 'Shoppes at Marina Bay' and the Convention Centre. The Grand Ballroom is on the 5th floor - use the long escalators beside the Convention Centre.

I found another seating chart for the ballroom.

This is slightly clear than Stones' one.

Block 102 has row A-U. About 20 rows.(I counted dots)
And it looks each row has 15 or 16 seats.
If it was correct, Block 102 has about 350 persons at most.

Then total capacity will never exceed 10000.
Maybe around 7000 or 8000.

But I think it is still huge as a hotel ballroom.

In your chart sections 202, 203 and 204 have 8-10 rows only. In the Stones chart those sections have more rows and are larger than the front sections.

The Rain concert is the closest if anyone wants a rough idea of how the stage is going to be.

Take a look at this lady's blog. There are some pics from where she was sitting. It won't be exact but gives u a visual of what u'll get at 205. I suspect it's going to be a simple setup come 15 Mar.

That ceiling doesn't look 11 meters high. Hmm. Well, with this show, and the "seated tongue pit" in Shanghai, we'll be in for some unusual settings. Keeps things interesting, I suppose.

The reason for this stage is mostlikely the logistics. Think about that the stage has to be moved from Shanghai to Perth which might not be to easy. And the stage from Singapore to Adelaide. To me it seems that they may not have the side catwalks. At least when you checkt the seating map and the stage printed on this map.

Well I will be there and I am excited. I used paypal to buy a ticket in standing area on the secondary market and I am a bit panicked cause the guy has stopped communicating. But at least with paypal I am insured. Now I am also meeting up with a guy that has an extra seat in 205 that he is letting go at face. Cash when delivered and he sounds wound up to be going so I am sure I am in. Yippie!!! LOL I kind of figured if all failed, the outdoor screen would have to do. It's my first show since Hyde Park, and the off though Australia and NZ! We are all in for a great time I am sure!! I'm staying at the Bay Sands so finding the show should be easy and recovery the night off s few stumbles away.

Here is a short video of a Chinese TV awards show that was held in the Grand Ballroom. Gives a good idea of the ceiling height question and some indication of scale and capacity.

You also need long pants, shoes (not sandals) and a whole bunch of cash - no $5 bets here!

Often after the corporate packages are doled out, or the final stage dimensions come in, they figure out how to release more.
