As far as comparing to Some Girls, why not? A lot of the songs were started at the same time, and we're only talking about a 5 year time span between releases. They are more similar than Dirty Work and Undercover are, that's for sure.
I think Some Girls gets a bit of a 'free pass' because it sold so well and it sold so well, because of the disco single (which was great) but happened at exactly the right time when disco was big. Otherwise I don't think it would have had any where near half the sales.,,would you've considered Some Girls a flop then?
I know, and I'm not suggesting that's your opinion. Rather, I think that history has been in Some Girls favour more for the sales bonanza it was than for the absolute quality of the songs.
Nothing wrong with the album, I do like it very much and some absolute classic songs, but I don't think it's the 5 star 'classic' like the big four are, or even Between The Buttons or Aftermath or certainly Tattoo You.

yeah them too..and the candy corn, or kandy korn as it were, is yellow and orange and really awful..
I blame it all on the flying monkeys and the witch, in Wizard of OZ..
that really got me..
