i just don't like halloween..

You'd be the hallowe'en equivalent of the Scrooge then....BOO Humbug!

yep I don't like all the candy or the blood..not a good pairing..
who doesint like candy

i admit i like peanut m&m's..but not the blue ones..

The blue ones get me down.
and while were at it, don't let anyone try to give out candy corn..that stuff is nasty.

latebloomer, thanks for your offer but I aint going.

cool smiley

Anytime, little duke. grinning smiley

I agree with you on the candy corn, but I get all the licorice.

Are you talking about those black candies they used to sell, wrapped in the Hallowe'en wax paper?

If so, you can have mine too, those are nasty!

yeah them too..and the candy corn, or kandy korn as it were, is yellow and orange and really awful..

I blame it all on the flying monkeys and the witch, in Wizard of OZ..
that really got me..

Just to clarify here, I'm talking good and plenty and twizzlers...don't know about the wax paper black candies.

Okay, I think I'm done with this thread...Have a happy and safe Halloween everyone! smiling smiley

There are notices in our apartment block warning against trick-or-treating. We're thrilled. naturally.

This night 8 years ago I saw the Stones at Key Arena in Seattle! :-) So, Happy Halloween indeed!

Me too! The night Ronnie was too "adjusted" to play. I went to Portland 2 nights later also.

Any fans of the UK series Bottom here (Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson)?

They did a Halloween episode (Series 3, Episode 2) titled "Terror".

I would not be. I remember how much I liked Halloween when I was a child, so I always give out candy.

Halloween without trick or treaters is like Christmas without Santa.

Happy Halloween, y'all. (Today's Google animation is fun.)

Thunderstorms and flash floods here, my students are getting their candy in a rather unfestive plastic bag.

I do think our Big Al was using sarcasm here, I bet he loves trick or treaters.

Didn't pass out any candy, but I did spend the morning reading The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to my students, Aqua.

Watch out for flying pumpkins tonight everyone, and don't lose your heads!

Like the majority of Brits, I've never bought into Halloween and all the nonsense that surrounds it. It's roots may be European, but it seems to have developed into a distinctly North American tradition. I like many of the traditions upheld there, but this isn't one of them. I also do not like anything with even vaguely religious connotations, which, even if not recognised by the children partaking in 'trick or treating', Halloween clearly has. I don't even put a Christmas tree up any more!

Re: Happy Halloween

Well, I stand corrected Big Al. I thought you were being flippant.

I happen to like Halloween as it is one of the last children's holidays to still be relatively simple. It's over in one night, all you need is a cheap costume, a sheet will suffice, and a bag. It's a local event, a chance to connect with neighbors and friends. When my children were little, I would walk them around from house to house, chatting with my neighbors. One of the neighbors always wheeled a wagon behind her, filled with hot chocolate and cups and, at one house, a few of the local teens would create a haunted house gauntlet for the small children to pass through before they could collect their candy.

My brother was born on this day, I still remember my mother passing out candy while in labor, waiting for my father to get home. We had wonderful birthday parties for him, my parents would turn the basement into a haunted house. I also remember many fun Halloween parties I went to in my mispent youth.

I'll be at my son's football game tonight, but we'll still have the pumpkins out at home and a big basket of candy for the kids.

Come on, Big Al, doesn't that all sound like fun? cool smiley

I wasn't being entirely serious. Every now and then, I go a little OT in a thread. If kids wish to dress-up, make those faces out of pumpkins, etc, then that's fine. I have no real qualms with the celebration of Halloween. If I'd have been bought up n the States and had children of my own, I'm sure I would hold a different view.

As I pointed out earlier in the thread...

THE TRUE MEANING OF HALLOWEEN...

That and kids getting to play dress up, run around trick or treaing begging for free candy(the best kind), have some fun, go a party, eat some candy, smile, laugh and have a good time... etc etc
