I saw him about 10 years ago.....he was patchy, but not as bad S recent clips. I'm pretty sure the real problem with his playing is the fact that he's very hard of hearing.

Here Master Keith shows how Berry guitar solo is to be played...

thumbs up

Never understood why this was so bad. Crappy recording, but some classic Berry playing from Keith, that makes the audience scream and shout.

I would pay to see him sitting on a stool, with two strings on his guitar.

A living legend thumbs up

Keith seems a little uncomfortable with the guitar, but he's putting in some nice fills and it's an enjoyable performance.

Scroll to 58:30 for a far better recording of the performance :-

Limburgzaal Theater Heerlen would be a perfect venue

And the Cigale in Paris would be another nice for Chuck. Imo it beats the Olympia in terms of looks.

I only saw him once, in the 70s, and he did about 40 minutes, most of which was My Ding-a-Ling. And I STILL think he should go on playing as long as he wants! I think everybody should!

(For a few brief shining moments, I have to say he was wonderful. A few more would have been nice, though . .)

I saw him three times in the 70s, and once a few years ago. The last time I saw him was at the Maryport Blues festival in 2008, and he wasn't great, but it was still good to see him. I've written some reviews on my blog:

Then I would go. Otherwise I wouldn't bother anymore.... winking smiley

Five or six years ago I saw him in Antwerp, and it was, well not too bad compared too other recent shows appearantly. And the atmosphere was great as was the tension: 'when will he start making a scene?'. And he did of course, at some point he started arguing with his backup musicians and the light engineer. His blues was better than his rock'n'roll actually.

Chuck Berry is the father of RnR.
Keith Richards, the Rolling Stones and their fans owe him so much.

He's one of the fathers....Johnny Johnson should be mentioned when Chuck is....between those two and Little Richard and a couple others...(Bo Diddley)..one man in my opinion shouldn't actually be crowned the inventor of it

chuckberry.com has been down for over a week. Is it over and out?

The chuckberry.com works, but the "Official 2012 tour schedule" doesn't. And there is no 2013 tour schedue. Never has been, I think.

They charge 95 euros in Steinegg. Rather expensive.

It is because the venue holds only 600.

I saw Chuck Berry with Little Richard & Jerry Lee Lewis in concert in the 90s. He was the best of the 3. The show started with Little Richard (about 70 - 80 minutes), then came Jerry Lee Lewis (for only 30 minutes) and then Chuck Berry as headliner with a 1 hour performance. Beside me was a Chuck Berry fan, who told me that Chuck performs never longer as 1 hour and that concert was one of the best, which he ever saw by him.

Please note that those dates are still in the works and have yet to be confirmed by the master himself. Once confirmed the full schedule will be announced in a couple of days.

Ladykiller, are you talking about Munich 1998? I was there and Chuck was fantastic. Best show I have ever seen him put on.

It is not madness, it keeps him alive.

His shows are fun and his guitar has been out of tune for many years.

I saw him in Montevideo. Love the man and his legacy. But very, very sad to see him make a fool of himself on a stage.
