What do you think of this set list:

1. "Intro: Continental Drift"
2. "Start Me Up"
3. "Bitch"
4. "Shattered"
5. "Sad Sad Sad"
6. "Undercover of the Night"
7. "Harlem Shuffle" (Relf/Nelson)
8. "Tumbling Dice"
9. "Miss You"
10. "Ruby Tuesday"
11. "Play With Fire" (Nanker Phelge)
12. "Dead Flowers"
13. "One Hit (to the Body)" (Jagger/Richards/Wood)
14. "Mixed Emotions"
15. "Honky Tonk Women"
16. "Rock and a Hard Place"
17. "Midnight Rambler"
18. "You Can't Always Get What You Want"
19. "Little Red Rooster" (Dixon)
20. "Before They Make Me Run"
21. "Happy"
22. "Paint It Black"
23. "2000 Light Years from Home"
24. "Sympathy for the Devil"
25. "Gimme Shelter"
26. "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)"
27. "Brown Sugar"
28. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"
29. "Jumpin' Jack Flash" (encore)

This was played opening night 1989 in Philadelphia - Pretty impressive - Fresh songs, the first pre-1970 song didn't come in until #10....

13 less common (and at the time newer) songs in the mix. I would love to see the CURRENT Stones lineup/version do this setlist. I do not know a single person who actually likes the Steel Wheels tour. I present my case in point (pardon the crap lettering, I am in the middle of 4 video projects)...

This was quite the "new" show in '89. In addition to the 13 you highlighted, Ruby Tuesday hadn't been played since '67 (never in the US)...Before They Make Me Run, first time played by the Stones...Paint It Black first time since '67...also, Sympathy, Gimme Shelter and It's Only Rock n Roll were "fresh" as they hadn't been played in '78 or '81/82.

Yeah. It was a fresh approach, the foundations for the future warhorses set lists/shows/tours. SFTD completely different than ever before. 2000 Light Years... OK so the keyboards were way over the top but it was still cool.

They used Undercover Of The Night as a B-side and OVERDUBBED the fwanging guitar lick! Why would they bother doing that!?

By today's standards it's a warhorse heavy set - but then it was the first time since the glaciers thawed that they toured...

Saw this tour at the Silverdome. Was amazed that I could hear Mick whisper CLEARLY during Midnight Rambler, probably the best song of the show.

....and how much were tickets? I saw this tour in Frankfurt. It was very good.

The set list is great, but this show marks the beginning of the Vegas shows: The Rolling Stones pretend to be The Rolling Stones - although there are great renditions like "Gimme Shelter" with brilliant soli by Ronnie e.g. The same holds for YCAGWYW, the version on which Ronnie was allowed last time to play a extensive solo. But over all I prefer the last show of the genuine Rolling Stones - Leeds 82.

5. Shattered
6. Undercover Of The Night
7. Saint Of Me

9. Emotional Rescue
10. Can't You Hear Me Knocking
11. Honky Tonk Women
12. You Got The Silver
13. Happy
14. Midnight Rambler
15. Gimme Shelter
16. Sympathy For The Devil
17. Start Me Up
18. It's Only Rock 'N' Roll
19. Brown Sugar
ENCORE
20. Beast Of Burden
21. Paint It Black
22. Satisfaction

I don't remember how much they were, they were not expensive. I slept out overnight to by tickets from ticketron...For both shows in Philly. Also attended 2 in Washington and 2 in Atlantic City that tour - they could not have been to expensive because I certainly did not have a lot of money back then..

...Misbred Grey Executive...

Yes IORR and tumbling dice seemed like surprise nuggets that tour.

You do realize that with the exception of three songs on there, 2 of which suck, that was the setlist for this last tour.

I agree that the last real rock'n roll Rolling Stones show was Leeds 82 (I hope they will put ouf an official DVD of it) and it will remain their last real rock'n roll show, although there have been enjoyable Vegas style shows after that and hopefully will be more of them.

I also miss long, evolving guitar solo for YCAGWYW, the studio version is excellent as a studio version but in live the song really would be much better with some virtuous guitar lead playing.

Hype Park on July 13th was a Rock'n Roll show. I have been there. Trust me.
They're the greatest Rock'n Roll Band in the world - again. After all those "Vegas" tours (some enjoyable, you're right), it's all about the music again. Great playing by everyone on stage - and this includes Chuck, Daryll, Tim Ries and Bobby and all the others.
They left me speechless.

One of the best concerts I have ever been to, and I've been to many.

Dead Flowers was second night, not first. First night may have had Angie instead of DF.
