I like the quotation marks.

29 songs, but at least 29 people on stage, so I'm fine with 19-22 with a smaller back-up...

13 less common (and at the time newer) songs in the mix. I would love to see the CURRENT Stones lineup/version do this setlist. I do not know a single person who actually likes the Steel Wheels tour. I present my case in point (pardon the crap lettering, I am in the middle of 4 video projects)...

This was quite the "new" show in '89. In addition to the 13 you highlighted, Ruby Tuesday hadn't been played since '67 (never in the US)...Before They Make Me Run, first time played by the Stones...Paint It Black first time since '67...also, Sympathy, Gimme Shelter and It's Only Rock n Roll were "fresh" as they hadn't been played in '78 or '81/82.

What about Midnight Rambler? When was that last played before '89?

Hadn't been played since 76. So it was 13 years fresh.

This is a f****ng great setlist, and I think the tours of 81/82 and 89/90 were those with the longest setlist ever, am I right?

'Play With Fire" and "Dead Flowers" were played both nights.

Second show was a song shorter. Power failed during "Shattered" on opening night, and it wasn't played again on that tour.

1975 TOTA too. At least compared to '78 setlists.

To be honest, me as a drummer, I always get totally excited to see how a band could play long shows like that and most of the time being edgy, looking fine, working the crowds, each and everyday of the tour. Amazing!! I´m 36 and this would maybe be too much for me!

Even though it didn't change hardly at all night after night, it was still a great tour.

It seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I saw some great shows that tour. The one in Foxboro (I think it was the second of three there) Keith was on fire (it was the night the filmed the Rock and a Hard Place video.

It WAS better the next night. I saw both shows and the first night they seemed a bit nervous (understandably, given that this was their first show together since WW III). The second night they really cut loose.

Saw SW in Chicago, it was great. Dragged friends along and turned them into Stones fans.

It was a little over-produced with too many backing people, but that was more than made up for by Mick actually singing the songs, and Keith strong on guitar (including his solos). Keith's SFTD solo was singled out in most concert reviews as a highlight, if I recall. Plus it was the first time they'd gone with such a large backing group, so that had a novelty factor (which wore off quickly I admit.)

It was also the first tour where keith got 2 songs rather than one, which was great too.

If they had played a 28 song setlist in London last week, they'd have had to start at 19:00 with that curfew.

They could do exactly the same set list now and I would be really, really Happy.

The '90 Uran Jungle tour is very special to me, first time I saw them playing live.
In Rotterdam, Paris and Berlin (in Berlin they had the Steel Wheels stage).

And another little note... that afternoon in Berlin before the concert we ran into Charlie, he was just walking there.... in the wild... :-)

for me, the intro was incredible. 8 years and no stones tour, so much talk about them breaking up... it seemed incredible they were touring at all... and then the night of the show, the buildup of continent drift.. then boom! , and then start me up starts and mick and keith are standing right in front of us, wow, i really never thought i'd see that day.

the set list was incredible too, i might be wrong but i think back then songs like 'before they make me run" and "dead flowers" hadn't quite obtained their legendary status and were more just deep tracks from the albums; that's how it felt to me at least.

They played 3X Berlin. Olympiastadion was Urban Jungle, 2x Radrennbahn Weissensee was Steel Wheels for additional footage for At The Max.

The same as good wine this song gets better over time (just as any other stones song).

They did great shows in 1989/90. At times the sound was a little too polished, but that was a fantastic tour.
