O.T : Le Tour de France.
Posted by: ChefGuevara ()

Starts tomorrow. Let's hope for a clean and safe race.
Wiggins is not racing this year. Froome and Contador stand as
favorites. Looking forward to the high mountains already!

According to Lance's interview to Le Monde

"Impossible de gagner le Tour de France sans se doper."

Don't want to spoil your excitement, but I think this is one of the few things we can believe from this guy.

The Tour started in 1903 (happy 100!) and dopng started... in 1903 too!

They had 25kg bicycles and the "étapes" were endless so they got high on red wine and ether. Bon appétit! >grinning smiley<

I don't mind slower times. On even terms, the best rider will win.

For those who have missed it, France 2 has broadcasted a TV special called "L'histoire du Tour de France",this last tuesday which showed for the first time ever, some colorised footage of the very first Tour and where we can learn too , that it's isn't new to fool other racers with some medecine.Only our Poulidor never never dig into it, that's also one of the
reason he never won !

Some priceless footage anyway , go for it , if you like the Tour !

Oh no, is it back?

Watching people riding bikes.
Not my thing.

Froome dragging his teammate Wiggins up the mountain was a great memory from last year. Froome has his shot this year. It's a great spectacle to watch here in California: the postcard scenery and we get Phil & Paul announcing. They are remarkable and make it all the more exciting. After so many years of viewing I have mostly figured out what is going on strategy-wise, so now it makes sense as well. Looking forward to waking up to it each morning.

Looking forward to it.

The scenery and little bits of history told, plus the bike ride makes for great viewing.

Been a massive cycling fan longer than I've been a Stones' fan...and that's saying something ;-) Great family memories watching Hinault trounce the competition...an acquired taste, like all sports really when you think of it.

Too bad Wiggins couldn't make it this year because apart from him it's the best "plateau" in a long time (Froome, Contador, Schleck, Evans, Quintana, Valverde, Hesjedal, Pinot, etc...)...and yeah, let's forget about Lance "not normal" Armstrong. It's too bad his lackey Phil Liggett survived that scandal...I'm pretty sure he said he'd never comment again if Armstrong was convicted, oh well, his Liggettisms are funny, albeit played to death.

Unfortunately the first MTF (mountain top finish) will be on the 6th while we're fighting it out to keep our spot in the muddy grounds of Hype Park ;-)

if we want a cleaner Tour de France, then, the managers will have to think of shorter stages or/and more time off between them.
Let's face it, it goes beyond human capacities even if you're talented, especially in the mountain stages.

This is a little bit like the stones. The best shows were when they were doped!

Doing the Tour de France without doping is very unhealthy.
