Like other Rick Rubin recent productions, the sound on Black Sabbath new album is dreadful. Compression's all over.

Mick can have the album produced by Rubin and the Mastering done by another guy... (Steve Hoffman)P & M are two diff. beasts.
And... ABB had the levels in the reds and afaik Rubin wasn't involved.

All the compression and "loudness" is due to modern listening ie. mp3 files vs. cds.
Because the vast majority will hear the album in digital format, most new albums are "mastered for itunes" so it will sound best within the confines of mp3 players and pc speakers.
Cry all you want but thats how it is. Most listeners cannot tell any difference.

The album is ok, nothing special about it. It stands out in times where nothing spectacular is released anymore......and its better than expected from that line up...:-)...and it tops the charts beacause the buyers are also over 60.
