For me I am more excited he added Hi Hi Hi! Great song! Hope Rusty is playing some vicious slide on it.

And yes, Being the Bennefit for Mr. Kite is very interesting! But I wish he would have done Happiness is a Warm Gun instead!

Happiness has always been one of my favorite John songs (his too I believe), but I would bet a 2013 Stones ticket he would never play that in concert... too ironic, if you know what I mean... on the other hand, I'd LOVE to hear Macca break out "I wanna Hold Your Hand"!

Yeah Yeah Yeah!!

The Beatles & Stones all got along great, why can't the fans LOL

doh! Yeah, I guess that would be very weird for him to do Happiness. I like Benefit, but what about I am the Walrus!!!? That would be great, and Macca has said that is one of his favs.

A perfect pop record... but I can't see Macca doing it. It's a duet. Sure John's is the dominant voice but Macca's harmony is incredible.

I love this clip.

Lennon always wanted to re-do I Wanna Hold Your Hand, make it more slow and bluesy. He said he was going to do it on his tour, that sadly never was able to happen. Help was another one he wanted to re-do.

Lennon did attempt a re-make of HELP! in 1970 on the piano... he couldn't quite remember the progression I am guessing...

have a listen

I spent big bucks to see Macca in Nashville back in 2010, and the ticket included soundcheck. "Coming Up" and "1985" in the same night... well, it was worth every penny. Which is why I'm typing this from a hotel room in Anaheim, CA, where I'll see the Stones a week from tonight!! (also got tix for Prince tomorrow and a Stewart Copeland show over the weekend... every now and again a girl just has to run away from home/join the circus grinning smiley)

Also gonna see Macca again at Bonnaroo this year, it'll be tremendous! 80,000 person crowd makes it hard to see, but as I've been lucky enough to see him from down front it's time to give someone else a turn...

gripweed, that is a very cool find! I had never heard that before, but assume it was on the Lost Lennon Tapes?

And tnhybrid, I agree! I saw him in Utah and did the sound check package, and it was stunning. Basically, a seperate 1 hour and 40 minute show! With only a few songs he did that evening. Fantastic! Well worth every penny.

Because a certain number of Stones fans tend to be Andrew Loog Oldham's marketing victims who still, to this day, believe in such things as black versus white hats.

whitem8, not sure where I got that... I don't think it was from the original LLT series... I've had that for years & knew I still had a link up on "some site" so...

Even sadder is when he mentioned in 1980 that he still had song ideas bouncing around his head from the Beatle years, some dating back to 1965, that he was hoping to eventually develop, but, of course, never got the chance.

"I don't care how you want to sing it dear, I'm singing in meself at the moment".

Ouch.

I would love him to do more solo/Wings tunes rather than Lennon or Harrison songs. (He now does Eight Days A Week - Macca somg, but originally Lennon lead vocals, Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite and Something). Hi hi hi, is great news, and he does it well, better than I'd thought. But what about Letting Go, Beware My Love, With A Little Luck, Daytime Nighetime Suffering(!), Getting Closer, Ballroom Dancing, No More Lonely Nights, No Values, Stranglehold, Beautiful Night, Lonely Road, That Was Me, House Of Wax etc etc etc...!?

Can't wait to hear 'Junior's Farm.' The Bonnaroo crowd is going to freak out, as he wrote it in Nashville while living here temporarily...

A sleeper for the setlist: "Temporary Secretary" from McCartney 2. One of my more favorite of his, oddly... But then, I love all that Fireman stuff beyond all reason...

Fantastic set list, although I wouldn't mind if he delivered these two:

"Ballroom Dancing" was potentially a great song.

"Ballroom dancing made a man of me".

Great line.

It needed a bit of Lennon acidity in there and it would been perfect.

He did "Please Please Me" back in 2005 when I saw him...it was amazing.

I saw Paul a few years back in Denver. Midway through his 3 hour set he yelled " Elevation bring it on". Great show, sat on the side of the stage for $100 a fraction of what I shelled out for tonight's show.

Never seen Macca play live and I'm a Brit who grew up with the Beatles and Stones early years.

Always loved The Beatles but The Rolling Stones were my number one.

Macca's style in the whole way he go's out on tour and the varied and 3 hour long setlist is just a dream gig for me.

Gonna make a real effort to see him this year. winking smiley

The trouble with going to see a "legend" like Macca or The Stones is that the set list caters to that bottom-line "once in a lifetime" type of concert goer, the ever casual fan.

Was just listening to the first Wings album Wild Life. A pretty underrated effort, and the title track, along with a hidden gem from that period like Momma's Little Girl, would actually sit nicely among the well-worn classics.
