is it fair to say the beatles are beating the stones this week?

I am sure that Paul adding five Beatles songs while the Stones are "stealing the headlines" with their 50 and Counting tour is purely coincidental! NOT! And to think that many actually believe there is no legacy war between the Stones and the Beatles for greatest of all time. Paul is just protecting his own - waging the good fight right to the end, on his own. Fortunately for the him there is help on the way in the form of his son James and later with the other sons of the Beatles. Of course none of the parties (Stones or Beatles) will ever admit to it. Good English boys are supposed to be humble as apple pie. May the best band win!

Exactly Jah Paul. I have seen McCartney pretty much every tour since 1989 and while he always will play certain Beatles classics he has consistently digged deeper and deeper into the Beatles catalog recognizing that so many fans are familiar with the albums and want to hear gems such as I've got a Feeling, Mother Natures Son, for No One, etc.. I love that he has the confidence to put these songs in the set alongside the Beatles Mega Worldwide Hits and instead of pandering to a casual fan actually rewards the hardcore fans.
And I challenge Mick Jagger to shut those of us up that want the setlist mixed up. Give Mick Taylor 2 more songs in place of IORR & Miss You And replace 2 warhorses with Let it Loose & Just My Imagination. And if the crowd revolts and runs out screaming it was the wrost thing they ever attended as you obviously think, then you will have proved us wrong. But if they don't perhaps will remember once that the majority of the Stones work was released when people actually bought entire albums and listened to them over and over again. Give fans more credit than knowing only what is on Hot Rocks. At least McCartney gives his fans credit for knowing more than what is on the Red & Blue albums.

You obviously have no clue about Paul and his setlists the past several years...debuting different songs is normal for him each tour.

I wonder how many of the $85 last minute good location Stones tickets would have originally sold for the $350 Paul is charging.

LOVE the Beatles, and a small amount of Paul's solo stuff.

I saw him live several years ago and to be honest it was rather boring for the most part.
With that said, glad to see he's still cranking away with his 36 song set-lists...maybe the Stones could learn something from him (again).

Hi Mick, you see? Anything is possible when you REALLY think about your legacy, and more importantly, your long time customers/fans.... If you can't do a tour "right" from every angle-- Price/Product/Promotion/Place.... don't freaking do it... or at least, DON"T SCREW THE LONG TIME, end user....
Huh? I bet thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of people that have attended these recent shows have had a blast and will never forget it. Perhaps it's just people on message boards that have problems with the concerts and "every angle". Perhaps this is a good example of the downside of being a hardcore fan. The inability to just relax and enjoy.

Thousands have enjoyed the shows of both artists: the stones get fannies in the seat with 85 tix.. just look at the pix for the LA show..My intent on my post was to suggest that the stones and their advisors, have f^cked up this tour form a price/distribtution/product/ POV.. Look at TM. see how many tix are available for any show and do the same for Paul Mc... not even close.... Stones mgmt resorts to desperate deep discounts due to a misread of the market and overall hubris... McCartney just goes on and on... AEG/MJ/RS should know what they are and what are not...face it. The Stones, and their leadership F*cked up the marketing and, worse cannot even play their songs with a modicum of passion and/or judgement... Gwen Stefani? Keith Urban? GTFO! Thank God I only paid 85 to see their swan song.... nothing like watching a bus wreck

So if you paid 85 bucks what are you complaining about? You complain about their marketing but then say you paid 85 bucks. Perhaps you belong in Vegas as a stand up comedian.

I said "debuting different songs" - whether it be Beatles, Wings, or solo, debuting differnt songs is normal for him each tour. Do you really think Paul is sitting around saying, "I better stick it to the Stones by adding 'Your Mother Should Know' and 'Lovely Rita'." ??

You know nothing about marketing.. Look at the empty seats and predictable set lists.. everone goes "gaga" over one rarity in the set like "factory girl".. Brainwashed simpletons... Yes I paid $85. and if I get an "obstructed view seat" a fact NOT mentioned on the intial offer upon which I acted and paid, I will seek a better location. If one is not available then, pursuant to laws in the state in which I attend the show, will seek a refund.. one should be told of the possibilitya of "limited views" prior to purchase.. sorry, I won't laugh if/when MJ makes a joke on stage about ticket prices and how we should all be happy that we were financially raped for an opportunity to share the same air as the "boys"
Thanks for the compliment about being a comedian. I would like to do that. Maybe the Vegas act aka the " world's greatest R/R band" can point me to where I sign up....

jumping jack flash mops the floor with everything the beatles have ever done.

when keith lays into that riff, its over.little paulie heads back to boyband land where he belongs.

to compare one of the friggin moptops to the worlds greatest rock and roll band is a joke.

isnt there a website called "get back " or something where you people can go and leave the actual stones fans alone.

anyway, actual stones fans have joined the macca bandwagon...it's on the run, so hop aboard and enjoy!

I don't mind the "warhorses", they're gonna play them no matter what, but what I don't like is their placement in the setlist. The last 5 numbers are always so predictable. It's like they play 3 quarters of a show and then rest on their laurels for the last remainder. Mix it up! Put them somewhere else!

Well it was a good competition for awhile but not since 1970 which was a long time ago.

Roughly half of the set is lesser played songs. You are mistakenly thinking that if they play a song over two tours it is a commonly played song. They work songs in and out of the set all the time. Compare the last show with a show from the Licks tour. Lots of different songs, but it doesn't suit your argument so you will ignore it and when you go to a Macca concert you will sing na na na na Hey Jude for the nine millionth time and pretend it is fresh and new.

The Beatles and the Stones.. like Laurel and Harvy... like Rogers and Hammersmith... like The Lone Ranger and Toto.. like like Batman and Rodin...

All part of a glorious musical tapestry.

Celebrate them.

is it fair to say the beatles are beating the stones this week?

You obviously have no clue about Paul and his setlists the past several years...debuting different songs is normal for him each tour.

What five new Beatles tunes did he add to his set list last tour?

I said "debuting different songs" - whether it be Beatles, Wings, or solo, debuting differnt songs is normal for him each tour. Do you really think Paul is sitting around saying, "I better stick it to the Stones by adding 'Your Mother Should Know' and 'Lovely Rita'." ??

I'd love to see Paul do, "Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing In The Shadow"...that would be sticking it to them.

That song has too much pizzazz for Macca. Maybe he can try "Just Another Night"

At least he won't have to drastically drop prices, and screw those who paid top dollar with no "value consideration" to "sell out" a show.. He had enough business sense and good mgmt to lead him in the right direction as far as "selling" a tour...

OMG what a whiner. Only about half of their set was warhorses. You want them to play all rarities and no warhorses? Then what of the casual fan who wants to hear the big hits. Funny when I look at Macca's setlist most of the songs he played were big hits for The Beatles, Wings or Himself. Those big hits aren't warhorses?

Mick,,,, er Frank.... list the "lesser played" songs played thus far... probalby shorter than MJs "todger" ( at least based on what KR bio says)

I'd like to attend a PM show but the ones scheduled in my area are sold out.. plenty of stones tix tho.

I have family members that see him every time he comes around so I doubt it is that hard to get tickets. Maybe you just stink when it comes to purchasing tickets. Maybe you are trying to connect to ticket sites using a Commodore 64.
Frank M please explain how half the set is lesser played songs. I'd love to see you back this up with fact rather than running your mouth.

Selling a tour? The Stones have most of the biggest money making tours of all time. Go figure.

Yes and then they made a collosal error in judgement this time around and got way too greedy. And in addition to that they proved to be liars about Taylor's involvement which is more disturbing than anything else.

Well I guess your too dumb to figure out that if they are constantly working songs in and out of the setlist then many of them will be lesser played songs.
Pretty simple if you use your head a little.

Funny how Rambler44 engages me everytime I argue with Steverogan. Either he has a giant man crush on Steve or he is an alternate identity that Steve brings out when he is losing an argument lol.
