In London Gregory - a Monkey dressed guy - walked around at the O2 before the show - and gave away upgrades to the tongue pit. You got the password on your mobile via twitter, and when you met Gregory you simply told him this very basic word - like "Hi Gregory"... and you got wristbands for the pit. Very simple. I know several friends who got their access to the pit this way. For the US I suppose there are some of the cheapeer seats who are either very high up or tongue pit. It is not that difficult really. They need to have a way to fool the scalpers, they don't usually buy up the cheapest tickets. I have said many times that the Stones do care for their fans.

Tongue pit upgrades were also given out in Newark.

The mystery location and day of show pickup are anti-scalping measures. And though these $85 tickets might just get you in the door, they also might get you a whole lot closer.

1000 for each show or total across all shows?

I was asking the same question, the newark shows only had about 100 $85 tickets. in that arena. I bet its across all Venues.

I officially appologize for bitching at The Stones about money/tickets.

I feel like this is a way of trying to validate the $600 tickets, but it also is a cool idea. I'll bite. More info tomorrow right?

To be a bit more specific they gave out 5 "tongue pit" upgrades at the O2 on the 25th and none on the 29th and the password had been posted on twitter a few minutes earlier (so you needed to be online at the O2) and it was "Grrrr...".

The Stones DO take good care of us, back in 2003 I payed 500 SEK to get the BEST seat in the house at the Cirkus Theatre. The arena show was 850 and the stadium around 600 so us hardcore fans got the best value at the best Place.

'Nuff said.

What is this "Something for everyone?" nonsense? If all the tickets were 85 dollars then that would be something everyone could afford. Or are there people who prefer to pay more?

<<Tickets will be sold as a pair. You will find out your seat location when you pick them up the night of the show.>>

For these reasons alone, I think this thread should be merged in the ticket complaints thread because 1) I like to know my location ahead of time and 2) I only go to shows alone. And, possibly, 3) I'll bet you need a credit card for these, which I also don't have.

How would you feel if you got to talking to some people at the show only to find that while you paid $600 for your ticket, the couple right in front of you [blocking your view because they are taller] got in for just $85? You'd feel shattered, what a mess, this show's in tatters, uh-huh, full of bargain grabbers, piled up, on the VIP platter....

Would like to know more about this as well. I would hate waiting for more information and then missing out on the regular sale that starts at 10am.

Updated info:

USA & Canada tour tickets on sale at 10am, including over 1000 $85 tickets per show

Tickets for the Rolling Stones’ 50 & Counting US and Canada tour go on sale at 10am local time here.

As a part of the general on sale, there is something for everyone, including over a 1,000 tickets per show at $85 (including service charges). Some will be among the best seats in the house in the Tongue Pit, with others spread around the arena. Tickets will be sold as a pair. You will find out your seat location when you pick them up the night of the show. Other tickets range from $150- $600(plus service charges).

We will be using strict anti-scalper measures to ensure that these $85 tickets go to Stones fans and don’t end up on the resale market with wildly inflated prices. We appreciate your attention to the following, so that you have the best experience possible:

· You must pick up your tickets in person, along with your guest. Once you have the tickets in hand, you will be escorted into the arena. There will not be an opportunity to leave with your tickets before going into the show.

· Picture ID, your confirmation number, and the credit card used to make the purchase are required for pick-up. Without these things, you will not be able to pick up your tickets.

If we suspect any reselling or transfer of these tickets they will be immediately voided and you will not be entitled to any refund.

Still says the same thing, I don't see any updated info:

"General onsale for tickets for the 50 & Counting tour of the USA and Canada commences at 10AM local time Monday April 8.

As a part of the general onsale, there will be something for everyone, including over a 1,000 tickets at $85 (including service charges). Some will be among the best seats in the house in the Tongue Pit, with others spread around the arena. Tickets will be sold as a pair. You will find out your seat location when you pick them up the night of the show. Other tickets range from $150- $600(plus service charges).

More details will be released on Monday, along with the links to purchase these tickets."

In any case there is no ticket link to the Philly show, so I guess that one isn't included yet. confused smiley
