I'd like to venture another question....pick another album by any other band, that is BETTER than either of those two albums.

OK, I'm preparing to be bashed.

Abbey Road. Well, I don't insist it is necessarily better, it is pretty impossible to compare, but that album is just one great piece of music. But it is impossible to say it is better than Gimme Shelter or Rambler. I don't know how to put it in words. LIB and SF have the best songs, but...Abbey Road is just a great album...and LIB and SF are also great albums...I am really short of words here :-)

Let it Bleed over Sticky, or any other album for that matter imo

Sticky fingers. Their best 'tunes' album. Spanks Exile in to a corner.

Where else can you eat a mediocre meal AND get to watch RnR Circus though. Definitely need to do it at least once if you're there. Perhaps you just didn't enjoy the company (although if memory serves, you enjoyed the waitress).

Sticky fingers is my favorite stones record. There was a better band making SF then there was on LIB, and the tracks are just better. I also think that SF is better cohesively/collectively. That being said Let it Bleed is still my second favorite. Gimme Shelter, Midnight Rambler...how can you go wrong. Stellar album with so many great tunes. Wish they used Jiving Sister Fanny, but they probably felt they didn't need to showcase the new guy yet.

They both kill Exile for me. I'd actually rather listen to GHS over Exile on most days.

sticky fingers lib/fingers double album

For no other good reason, I'd have to say Sticky Fingers only because with Let It Bleed it was Taylor's first album and the new sound was just beginning to take shape and with SF it was hitting full stride.

M.t. wasn't needed as much on LIB because Keith was playing better then anyone at the time.
In fact I really think Keith hit his peak then. With Brian gone, Keith had to step up without
Anyone to lean on..

LIB is the best because Keith was at his best.
Play it loud!

Not that I necessarily favor one over the other, because they are both equally great albums, but the reason I tend to listen to Let It Bleed first and then Sticky Fingers is because Let It Bleed seems to herald the start of something new--the Mach II era of The Stones--in terms of sound and song style. Even before the decade actually began, Let It Bleed seemed to signal the start of the mature, classically decadent period of The Stones.

Looking solely at the tracks, then Sticky Fingers is the stronger of the two, IMO. However, Let It Bleed is a 60's LP, so is way cooler. I like both.

HisMajesty - None of the three you listed are anywhere near as good as either of the two albums in this thread.

Let It Bleed by a hair over SF.

dylan's hiway 61 stands alone as the greatest triumph in rocknroll history...and as further evidence of that, bobby's sportin' a triumph t-shirt on the cover.

Highway 61 isn't even Bob's best album.

Correct, it's Selfportrait

Let It Bleed - Sounds like the 60s moving into the 70s (not that I was around!), plus it also has the edge of all the songs sounding like they were recorded during the same time, whether they were or not.

But I still love Sticky Fingers......I just like the gloomish aura LIB has.
