After a semi-brutal summer of heat, things are becoming pleasant again in SoCal near the beach.
Overcast and cool mornings, sun breaking through in the afternoon, and then cool nights.

BUT...won't break out any extra blankets quite yet as a mini heat wave is due in a few days, though nothing like some of those blistering hot days earlier in the summer.

And the crows that annually nest in the top of this tree have finally settled down and the youngun's all grown up ...not as much squawking which I kind of miss just a little bit...or maybe not...winking smiley
Amazing though to see the fortress they build in springtime, making use of sticks, string, and anything else they can get a hold of...and when the tree sways to and fro when there's gusty winds, no prob they're troopers.

And from what the news says, several more lined up right behind her.

Best wishes to everyone in Florence's path (exactly where that is is hard to determine right now). That kind of destruction is not what we want in the week when we remember 9/11--stay safe, everyone!

Looks like Florence will turn SW and cruise the coast and slowly make landfall in SC and dump... a ton of rain.

Wow.

Which could potentially create an environmental nightmare.

Almanac Time... The season has changed here in Northern Ca. Autumn has arrived. My prediction is that we won't get our typical Indian summer that we normally get in Sept-Oct. and there will be a lot of rain later in the fall. However, there might be a freakish warm spell some time during November. (those are becoming part of the "new normal".)

Amazing pics of the beautiful purple plant with bees Rockman - you got any pics of those deadly Australian snakes?

Australia’s 10 most dangerous snakes

Or how about those deadly Australian spiders? Maybe the Sydney Funnel Web Spider?

AUSTRALIA’S MOST DANGEROUS SPIDERS

Or maybe a shark?!!! eye popping smiley

As for the weather here in SoCal, the coast is clear at 75°F with mild sea breezes - expected to remain the same throughout the next 10 days and probably beyond.

PS - Coming up on the three year anniversary of Crosseyed Heart, Sept. 18th - a day of celebration! smiling smiley

Do occasionally see snakes … but they move like
lightning and most times will do their best to avoid you
BUT BUT BUT if its a Brown or a Tiger they'll come after ya
and the last thing you're thinking about then is snappin' a pretty picture of them …..

Always make heaps of noise when moving thru grassy areas esp in summer

Funnel Web …. NO NO Deadly and glad they hang-out in NSW... Keep em there …

Trap Door is friggin creepy but not highly dangerous

See heaps of Red-Backs but they are slow, sleepy... hate light...and hang in dark places …..

We have Rattlers in the hills and deserts, and Black Widows just about everywhere - both of which I've seen on many occasion.
Haven't seen a large shark yet near the shore (and pray I never do!), but have seen them way off the coast from a fishing boat.
Plenty of small "sand sharks" though (aka the Guitar Ray or guitarfish) that lurk in the shallows of the shoreline -
creepy little suckers that can actually get quite big...have even stepped on a few throughout the years! eye popping smiley
