Keith already confirmed coming tour.

Keith already cleared the air on this in a Rolling Stone interview in October:

In October, while discussing the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary dates in London and New York, Keith Richards told Rolling Stone: "My experience with the Rolling Stones is that once the juggernaut starts rolling, it ain't gonna stop. So without sort of saying definitely yes – yeah. We ain't doing all this for four gigs!" [My emphasis added.]

He's right. They ended up doing five (Or seven. Or eight, if you want to split hairs)

I think they'll do a tour next year ok, but I wouldnt take a comment from one band member a month BEFORE the shows as a rock-solid guarantee. Had the recent shows been disastrous, I would have doubted the Stones - and Jagger especially -would have even seriously considered embarrassing themselves any further.

"confirmed" has a meaning and this is not it. This is more "Keith mused about the possibility of more shows, the chances of which he had no clue when he made the statement."

Whether there are going to be any more shows or not, they would be saying the same thing they are now. Maybe. They would never announce no more shows.

It's pretty simple, tease, hint, tease, hint, confirm at last possible moment.

I just think you would be better off considering the possibility that there may not be a tour or any more shows. It's almost like you think that the more posts you make saying the same thing, the more likely they will come true.

You and me and everyone else here would go to an evening of EOMS in it's entirety but would they sell 100,000 tickets - as they have just done - at these top prices? Doubt it

I think Keith and Ronnie would love to go on the road, question is more about MJ and Charlie

Mick will only go out on the road with The Stones to recover the feeling of success and mass adulation after one of his solo projects bombs.

Charlie will only go out on the road when his wife says it's time for him to get out of the house and do something.

When the above two factors occur at the same time, then you have a Rolling Stones tour.

If the PPV concert turns out to be the last concert these guys do then I can live with that and be thankful that they went out in a blaze of glory doing what Mick says they love doing most - putting on a great show. They certainly did that. In fact they put on five great shows. Of course I would love to see them do at least one more album before they throw in the towel, but that of course means more shows. The most likely scenario is that they will continue at least through 2013. Which means a new album and more shows. Of course it could all come to a crashing halt if one of them becomes ill or dies, or if Mick and Keith have another falling out. Regardless, I don't plan on spending as much time speculating on what they might or might not do in the future. They have pretty much answered all of my prayers.

Seeing them once more was on my bucket list. 50th anniversary I hoped they'd play and was determined to see it.. All the cards fell for me and I saw them in Brooklyn. Worth every bit of anticipation and then some. Yup I'd like a world tour and would attend but hoping more for the people like me who recognize there is nothing on earth that can compare to a night in 2012/2013 watching music history performed with respect and love.

I like the idea of mini-tours.

I had so much fun, in NYC/NJ, for the shows. It would be cool, if they did 3 shows in Chicago, LA, etc. A week in LA would be a blast!

I agree. Too many shows is a recipe for disaster at their age. Keep it fresh. Do four or five shows over a month then take a little break and then repeat.

They didnt 'do a PPV first'. Every PPV theyve done since 1981 has been followed by dozens more concerts. In some cases, theyve even been in the same country.

Sense? How about the necessity to fund much of what's ahead, today? Also, may relate to market conditions at the time, for doing the PPV $ucce$$fully.

Start with that it does make sense on some level, rather than it doesn't and let's see where that takes us. That it doesn't make sense, doesn't make sense.

Sorry, but it doesn't. ;—)

G, that is a weirdly distorted claim. In 1989, it was the last USA show with
the PPV only shown in the USA and no internet to quickly disseminate it in
Europe etc. Plus with genuine huge ticket demand.

Also very close to the USA end in 1994, with the tickets for the remaining shows
already sold, and again no free internet distribution yet possible. And
basically the same for Bridges to Babylon. And still great ticket demand.

Licks similar I think, can't remember for sure, and no PPV for Bigger Bang,
I'm pretty sure, the first Stones tour in the age of easy piracy.

So yes they DID do this PPV at the beginning of a possible new touring era,
and its easy availability and easy piracy undoubedly reduces their already
greatly reduced ticket demand, as I noted from when it was first announced.

What I did not anticipate was the Vince McMahon/Lady Gaga angle, which is the
only card they have left to play. A very limited amount of shows, at very high
prices, plus a freakish line up of guests for the PPV. Essentially four
dress rehearsals plus a PPV. Score big, go home, then wait for a little while
til you can run the same scam again.

The angle you play this next time is the-return-of-Haystacks Taylor, appearing
both on the new tracks you cut and on four or seven or nine of the live songs.
Again, a limited amount of high-priced dress rehearsals and a guest-heavy freak
show PPV. Vince McMahon runs this scam every three months or so with his
wrestlers. No reason he can't run it every six with his "eighth wonder of
the world" 70-year-old-Kong-Jagger house band.

I'm looking forward to it actually, now that I've gotten over that pesky
"need-it-to-be-real" thing.

Wow...this has to be the most ridiculous post of the year, which is saying a lot since the year is almost over and all the other crap here that preceded...the only solace that can be found in it is the time you wasted posting and editing it, next !

They needed the PPV to show the world that they still can deliver -
so the world can buy tickets next year without regret.

I just don't think that a new album will have as much attraction as these five concerts did already. Furthermore most of the people would anyway moan that it is not reaching the quality of whatever previous album. I can already see the disappointment threats.
If they will do another thing, it will be a set of concerts, because they know that this is the best they can deliver now.
So enjoy what we have received with the five concerts and be thankful in which momentum and spirit they played these shows.

They've done that before, at the end of a tour, or the leg of a tour. Perhaps it's either wanting to make more money or they aren't doing anything in 2013. They've released plenty of albums without touring before, they can certainly do that again.

The Licks TV special was on HBO (with the previous show used as a security recording). Not sure if that is technically a PPV, although if someone got HBO for one night I bet they thought of it that way.

Just leaked, the lineup of guests for the Rolling Stones 2013 Second
Annual Holiday Special (PPV in some countries)

Taylor "Far Away Eyes" Swift
Barack "Sweet Home Chicago" Obama
Chuck "Its Only Rock and Roll" Berry
and
Louis "Gimme Shelter" CK

"War? Its just a shot away? War?" *Louis CK makes an injection-into-his-forearm
motion* "Really, Keith? Shouldn't that be Peace, Its Just a Shot away?" LOL!

Plus with the addition of the high-stepping marching band from historically
black Prairie View A&M College, you'll hear old favorites Start Me Up and
Sympathy For The Devil like you've never heard them before!

And as if all that wasn't enough, Stones fans everywhere are chomping at the
bit to hear Keith Richards put his own wonderful spin on that alcoholic
classic "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime".

Yes, its the Best Rock and Roll Circus ever! Plus its completely authentic
and rootsy because the greatest Rolling Stones guitarist of all time will
join the band not on one, not on two, but on three, count em, three
totally righteous jams!

Mick Taylor! Mick Taylor! Mick Taylor!

Enough said! All you have to do now is wait a few months, then party your ass off!

(Remember, with the addition of Barack Obama to the lineup, you are GUARANTEED
at least 50% more fist-bumps than in 2012!)

Long time ago. But who knows about tomorrow...

Right this minute, I'm totally into the WWE thing. I've been a big Stones fan
since 1964 and a big wrestling fan since 1957 (pre WWF!). So of course I'm
gonna get a kick of their current perfect union.

As for the future, any Stones, including no Stones, is just fine by me.
Whatever Mick wants.

It was actually the penultimate show.

There were 55 shows in 1990 in Europe and Japan. Plenty of bootlegs and videos of the US shows (including Atlantic City) were in circulation outside of the US long before they ever came here. Plus, a shitload of MTV coverage.
