it's a period piece and as such it's very dated. sorry - but it's the truth and it had to be said.

Is it possible that a thread on IORR could go a full page with everyone 100% in agreement on something? Is this a sign of end of days? just 3 days away?

I've never warmed to this song. Hearing it for the first time in a long time, it sounds very dated - and it drags on. As far as solid grooves, they did far better later in the '70s (Dance, Turning to Gold, Slave).

SPLITTER!!!!

It is time TNT, or someone, put them back on the air,
3 eps per night, 11:00- 2:00 every night... time has come again.

Even after so many years I think this song jumps out at you because it one of the few songs on that album that sounds like it is played with some conviction. Theme-wise it is probably more relevant today than when it was cut. It is not an album of which I am particularly fond.

Great tune, but Time Waits is the best on It's Only RnR.

Love the song, but I think "masterpiece" might be a stretch. Not only is it not one of the best Stones songs in my opinion, it's not even the best song on that album. Once again in my opinion. I love the Love You Live and L.A. Friday versions too.

I'd rank it just a notch below their very best tracks.

When it came out it was different and special(for the Stones).
I had high hopes for FF to be played live on the next tour. Unfortunately live it never lived up to my high expectations.I thought it had to do with Taylor leaving.
Would have been interesting to hear it in 75 with Taylor still on board.

Depending on which remaster. The one from the 90s is by far the best to my ears.

Also the last year SACD reissue of IORR features the original master tape version of Fingerprint File which runs at normal speed. Worth getting as well.

The SACD also has the long outro by Charlie on Time Waits for No One. This is my go-to version of this album now.

Plus the SACD has the best sounding version of IORR album. Sound clarity is quite impressive.

Best song on IORR and one of my favourite Jagger/Taylor tracks (as it should have been credited). My favourite Mick Taylor bass performance too winking smiley

Fingerprint file certainly is a great Stones track, but the best song IMHO is Time waits for no one.
