Live In England '65!
Date: December 7, 2012 13:49

Holy cow, what a show, or more precisely what a live album, since the album has songs taken from 3 shows!

I had great expectations, but this is just fantastic thumbs up

I got my Charlie Is My Darling limited Edition Box Set yesterday, and the first thing I did was putting on the vinyl. What a great sound, what a performance, what a band!

And Brian Jones was tearing the place down with wonderful playing, especially on I'm Moving On and Little Red Rooster!

How did they manage to restore the sound so well? Simply marvellous. The release of the year, imo smileys with beer

$72 - that's reasonable compared to the European prices on Amazon (starting at £63/€78 - more like $100).

If they'd released this as a conventional dvd + cd package with film and all live songs plus a small booklet for $20, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and not resort to seedier methods (pun intended).

Live in England is absolutly the best Stones album being released since Brain's departure. It is right there near the top of my favorite Stones albums of all time. It is Stones wise a lost oppertunity that they did only release it for the Deluxe Box. If they would add the 1969 live versions of "Under My Thumb, I'm Free & Satisfaction" from the "Get Yer.." Deluxe Bonus CD/Vinyl to these 13 songs from England 1965, it would make together the best ever live Stones album ever released. And it thus being released as one "Live in the 60's" CD (instead of a limited only for the few mad enough to spend so much money for a Deluxe Box) it will be available for every Mick, Dick and Harry. It would in that case most surely go into history as the best Stones live album ever and reach record sales (even in the US).

The best live album the Stones never released. Great sound and great performance.

Do we have a difintive proof of where these live recordings come from - I would love to buy this but would hate another cut and paste Job

Superb it is!

This is the sound of the Stones when I as a ten-year-old started loving them>grinning smiley<

I think it´s very possible that some vocals were overdubbed - apparantly the recording were made on three tracks: vocals / instruments / audience.
(Don´t ask me about technicalities...)

I'm glad to hear that. I can definitely afford a $72 box, let alone a $20 dvd pack (had it existed). It's just that I want a smaller package. I'd love to read the book inside, and all those things, but in the end that stuff is gonna take up place on my shelf and I will only listen to the CDs and mp3s. That would be $20 for listening and $50 gathering dust.

I will still consider buying the box if I can find it for a great price.

London, Liverpool and Manchester live 1965!

Re: Live In England '65!

It seems that the "live" stage music on the film is (mostly? completely?) taken from other (1966) dates, not the Irish shows that Charlie Is My Darling covers. That said, the film editors have done a brilliant job of synching the music to the footage and the result is impressive.

However, the tracks on the "Live in England '65" disc are just that: live recordings taken from the three dates in London, Liverpool and Manchester that provided Got Live If You Want It (but more of them, and in much better quality). So those are as genuine as you could wish, and an amazing listen as well.

I´m not so sure...

Did you try comparing Pain In My Heart?

*Got Live If You Want It! EP
*Live In England ´65
*Charlie Is My Darling Soundtrack CD

The music is VERY similiar (it could be the same take...) but the vocals are different on all three.
It should also be noted that the intro Everybody Needs Somebody To Love is the same version on all three...

Any more opinions on this?

Editing or splicing between takes, perhaps. I don' t think Mick did overdubs in the studio.
