The whole idea of special guests other than Taylor or Wyman is pathetic. $3800 for two tickets in Pit and then to have to listen to them ruin the songs. Just like Bono ruining IORR in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom in 2002 with his "Sir Mick !" And "goin to Chicago" nonsense

Maybe Mick has decided that the band is not up, to do a two hour show by themselves,is crazy, is not like you gonna go and buy a ticket, just cause Mary J, is doing a duet with Mick.I mean we already have to put up with Chuck,Blondie,Lisa, etc, maybe this is a way to give Keith some rest time during the show...

Now you're thinking of Ben Dover the former porn star.

His sister Eileen was also quite well known.

I remember the days where there was hardly any discussion about a concert BEFORE it happened. There was no analyzing, there was no crying. The good ol' days. The Stones are back on stage and they haven't even played a single note yet and the critic section is already in full force. Let's just enjoy the damn moment for what it is! The Stones are back! Who cares who they play with. Let's say the concert will be for 2 hours. Their guests will play with them for 2 or 3 songs out of 18 or something? 15 minutes of a 120 minute concert? That is what you're crying about? Give me a break.

Right on, brother, right on!

I don't need any guests, either, other than Mick T and Bill W. Have no idea why they would want to add all the others, unless it's more for themselves. Maybe it's fun to play with the guests. I don't think the audience that wants to see the Stones could care less about anyone else. I don't know why they would think the audience would. Maybe it's more of someone else's idea who advises them.

It's marketing genius. Hope they have Rihanna on the 15th of December.

Can you imagination all the additional eyes that would be tuned in? No better way to sell the Stones to the kids.

I just don't get it.

Why is this woman a guest?

Probably because she's an excellent singer. Does the special guest list have to be limited to near geriatric white males?

Gazza - thank you - I'm on Page 2 of these comments and have been thinking the same thing. Sheesh.

The outrage that a black woman guests might sing with Mick on...oh I dunno? Gimme Shelter?

I don't mean to be unsympathetic, but some of you guys are acting like a little bit like babies.
I mean, you bitch and bitch for 5 years for the Stones to perform again -- and lo and behold! here
they come. And you're shocked and appalled that the Stones are going to create the biggest
star-studded extravaganza they can conceivably pull together?

As hbwriter says, most of the people who will attend these shows are people who looking for
a flashy celebrity-soaked spectacle. So, to them, they are getting to see this old relic
band, the Rolling Stones, who sang that song Brown Sugar, featuring Mick Jagger and Keith
Richards (who was in that pirate movie their kids loved), PLUS some of today's biggest stars
and best guitarists etc having a heckuva night together.

If I were given tkts for close-up seats I would be THRILLED to see this show. How much would
I actually pay for this type of show? Not sure. But it's going to be cool in it's own way.

Cuz, I mean, this is what the Stones wanted to do, so here we have it. We're lucky they're playing!
And there will be plenty of Stones-only songs.

C'mon you guys, cheer up - it'll be a historic concert stuffed with talent and energy.

Trudat - and with good reason! Here's a blip from April 3, 2008:

MAXIM: Are there any other musicians you would love to collaborate with?

MICK: Christina Aguilera is such a great singer, so I loved that. She was really on it.
She delivers. I also love Mary J. Blige. I know she’s done duets with U2 and
everyone else, and I love her vocal style. She’s on my music wish list.

And believe me: the fact that MJB has 3.3 million twitter followers certainly
was not overlooked in the decision to have her on the bill (that's a lot of free
marketing to a demographic they usually can't touch) cool smiley

Yeah but they always were full of themselves... Plus live they sucked for most of the 1975-80 period so it's a wrong example.

do mick and keith huddle and decide they're in desperate need of a washed up rapper to alienate the fanbase?

That's a completely silly comment : MJB is not a rapper she's more like the 21 st century Aretha Frankin...

Well it looks like that since the stripped down gigs they have been gradually padding this production.

We will see.

I'm not going (sadly) but if I was I wouldn't give a sh*t about guests. It's not about them, they shouldn't be there. ESPECIALLY guests with zero link to the Stones.

They did it on SHine a Light and it sucked.

Let's find the Justin Timberlake video.

Re: Too many guests?

I was contemplating going without a ticket, just hopping a cheap flight to London from Germany and taking my chances with a ticket which Iam sure I could have finagled. The economy in the past years has hurt my small business, but Iam surviving , I could afford the price but I would feel it for certain.

heres what stopped me..

These guest stars being announced. And I do not mean Mick Taylor and Bill. I cannot stand when they do this, Please keep Sheryl Crowe and all these people on their own tours. Its dreadful, especially Mick duetting, freaking horrible.

2nd thing that stopped me- They will tour in 2013 at resonable ticket prices, if anyone cant see this is a shakedown I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn. I would not even be surprised if Wymann and Taylor keep making guest appearances, lord knows they would not mind the money.

Edit, That Justin Timberlake footage just sealed it, I never knew that happpened.

I don't consider Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor guests at all....they are Stones and its great to have them back.
If the Stones "need" to have guests, it would be so much better to have musicians that actually mean something to them, or have a connection to the Stones: McCartney, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Lee Perry, Neville Bros, Toots or the like-- not this steady stream of "B' listers----
I'm just thankful they didn't ask Justin Beiber.......................

You could include 1973 in that scope...GREAT studio band!
Thats why their movie was so good...TSRTS

but they were INVITED by the band. it would be very very rude to not be there under these circumstances. where ARE your manners?

Maybe for the encore they could come out with all of these guests plus a few others (Bieber, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Eminem) and they can sing the Live Aid song.
