not for me. their very early blues period (1963-64) was bloody amazing; 65-66 is yet another pop band, a very good one, but... 67 is being a bit too satanic, but from 68 to 72 the Stones are the greatest rock and roll band in the world!

Absolutely, the early years from 1962 up untill Child of the Moon is their Golden Era no doubt in my mind about it.

That's a very strange question to me.

The answer is "of course".

It's as important as the rest.

To me anyway.

The first album is amazing r&b.

I can't really answer that: I'm prejudiced.

Probably the question should be: does anyone here on iorr who wasn't there the first time around like their 1962-1967 stuff?

I saw the Rolling stones--First time in Berlin 1965 . 25 minutes in the waldbühne in berlin. Like their rhytm and blues Era. Sure I am a fan til now!! The Rolling Stones ARE the greatest Rockn Roll band!

love their 62-67 stuff.

1967 they produced more songs than any other year, and most of then good.

the stones strength has always been their versatility, and this period aswell as 68-83 proves exactly how versatile this band is.

1967.

A good question. I like some cover versions from 1963, but I believe that Stones became a fantastic band in 1968. Of course I enjoy Aftermath and Play with Fire, but to give an example, the studio version of Satisfaction is rather boring

1963-1967 stuff

Its the music I grew up with and it's always nice to turn on the recordplayer and just listen to that great blues stuff.

What a stupid question?!

Of course.

I listen to the 1962-67 every day.

Their golden era is 1962-1982.

A lot of it is very enjoyable indeed, for what it is. There are several classics here; Ruby Tuesday, Let's Spend the Night, Paint It Black. They succeeded with some of their blues covers too.

But at the same time, there's a lot of stuff that's pretty disposable too.
I mean... it's not The Beatles we're talking about. They were second to them by a long shot. Give the Red Album complation a spin, and that fact becomes so glaringly obvious.

To extrapolate on what 1962 said, their first twenty years were bloody amazing.

But so much in the wake of the shouldn't-have-been-released Dirty Work feels like mere labor.

Very much so. A great period in their history that made possible the band they later became...

I do listen to the early albums and especially Aftermath (which was their first album of own songs) quite a lot but I suppose it depends how old you are - the Stones have gone through different periods with great music at all stages of their evolution - I have been lucky enough to grow up with the greatest band there ever will be, and the best thing is... they are still doin' it!
Second to the Beatles... i think no chance. It is of course, personal taste, but for me, nothing comes anywhere near the Stones. There will never be another.

"...till the next time..." 14 days and counting down!!!

These albums usually start off the working day

And, of course, to linger longer in this time frame, other unofficial selections will be thrown in

Then it's on to

followed by another stop at the bootleg cafe

before I read Yesterday's Papers

and round things off with a Beggar's Banquet.

The evening shift usually begins with Let It Bleed through to It's Only Rock n Roll, and that's a pretty long work day (feels more like 10 years rather than 10 hours)....

Your right...my oldest brother (68) stopped listing to the Stones after Aftermath
