If I'm understanding this correctly, some morons want:
A forum about musicians where you don't actually discuss how well the musicians play.
Such silliness - what else interests you? Their tight trousers?
You cant tell the difference between a whine and a discussion?

I hope we can all agree that discussions are cool but whining is a different story altogether. If you want to whine then feel free not to share it here.

Anybody else catch the South Park episode this week?? ... it dealt with this very concept... those South Park are geniuses who tell the truth with great humor.... but also very sobering... sobering humor.

Or... feel free to be objective and express what you want here as long as it doesn't violate BV's terms.
A lot of people here are musicians themselves; Musicians hear and feel music much differently than non-musicians. We have a much more developed understanding of what we're hearing musically, and I don't know many musicians that are unimpressed by the band - especically from 94-onwards; particulariy because it IS common knowledge that The Stones were truly, at one point in time, The World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band.
Non-musician fans who buy into The Rolling Stones in 2012 don't hear what musicians do when checking out the new song or live clips which have leaked. People who are paying for tickets for these events are paying to be At A Rolling Stones Show, to be caught up in the moment, to witness the sight of Jagger, Richards, Wood and Watts (and/or Taylor and Wyman but I'm starting to not really care at all) onstage. Nothing more. Paying for a 'notch' on their list of shows they attend, running the setlists through catalogs, checkmarking songs. Paying to say "I Was There". Buying into the hype is what they do, because - and lucky for them I suppose - they don't hear or understand how shite the music from them is, and has been for nearly 20 years.
So of course they get upset when the bubble is burst, when Toto (the dog, not the group that released "Africa") pulls the screen away from The Wizard, so to speak. Since they don't know how to communicate about the poor music, that they are not even hearing properly, they bring down our objectiveness to a base level of merey 'complaining' or... 'whining'. And understandably they get upset about it.

Why don't you help us all out by listing the adjectives we can and cannot use, and the types of opinions that are acceptable to you. I will then know what I can and cannot share here. After all, you're the boss, it seems.

On the contrary. I'm a bit tired of the constant fanboys, who will praise everything they do. I think the Stones have got away too easy. They would have benefited from more honest critisism. After doing another stillborn ten minutes version of JJF or HTW they should have had eggs or tomatoes thrown at them instead of a massive round of applause from the public. That would have forced them to progress!
And what about the press? One journalist dared to share his honest opinion about the band (and especially Keith's achievements) - he was threatened to his life! What about the other journalists? Are they fanboys too?

First: Don't call other fans and members of IORR message board marons anymore, drbryant. That would be nice, and after you succeed in doing so, you will be ready for some following insights, going easier in this way to your relaxed brain ...

I like reading honest opinions. Calling critisicm of Rolling Stones way of dealing with tickets and audience, not taking chances, playing for bankers etc for "whining" is not correct.
Honest opinions or reviews about the guitarists playing is not "whining" either. THe only real whining taking place here is whining about other peoples opinon and impressions

That's fair. I should not have used the term. What I should have said is that I think it is meaningless to have a Stones forum where criticizing Keith or Ronnie's playing on a given night or on a given tour is off limits because of their age or because of Keith's arthritis. The guitar playing, the solos, etc. - it's what Stones fans and boot collectors have been talking about for as long as I can remember.
