Kind of bothers me now realizing they don't play 19th Nervous Breakdown the normal way. I'm all for different versions of songs, but for a song they don't play all the time, that annoys me a tad.

remember this, though: being annoyed just a tad by the lads these days is tantamount to being overjoyed....or something...

I listened to most of it last night and really enjoyed what I heard. I agree with others, this is the first and only time I ever heard them do "Rough Justice" live and really make it cook. I also love how the band forgets to go back into the chorus after Ronnie's solo as Mick desperately tries to turn it around.

Other thoughts:

- "Infamy" was definitely the best live version I have heard, though it goes on too long and Keith's off-key solo toward the end is horrendous.

- "She's So Cold" people will disagree, but this totally reminded me of the 81 versions. It rocked.

- "Jumping Jack Flash" notable for the fact that it begins pretty average, but by the time the 3rd verse arrives the band somehow transforms and the song just smokes.

- "19th Nervous Breakdown" sorry, but I don't care for it a whole lot. Sounds as if they're trying to make it sound like something from Dylan's "Highway 61"

- "Dead Flowers" great version with, yes, some honest to goodness weaving between Ronnie & Keith.

This was well worth the $5 to say the least, an interesting selection.

this is why free, illegal downloads were invented

I adore their version of Mr. Pitiful. Its great to have a HQ version of it now. It sounds like they make a few slight changes to it that give the music added feeling. Something they've always specialized in. Jagger is very soulful on this one. Its a pitty this didn't become a regular part of the set list.

Is this another example of 'younger' Stones fans digging the new download, and the 'older' ones gagging themselves with a spoon?

No I don't think age is a factor here. Some of the older IORR-people are among the biggest fans of their new shows and the ABB shows.
I'm not old - but have zero interest in listening to this 2005 vault release

Just tired of watching the pitcher throw curve balls like this.
If the damn Stones could just get a bat on one of these 6 pitches we could easily have a home run...

the first one they hit waaaay out of the park....of course, that only set the expectation that more homers would follow. alas, five swings and misses later and we're moping back to the dugout, having smashed the bat over our leg in the process. rock archive releases are a cruel and unforgiving sport....

I guess this latest release pretty much guarantees that the El Mocambo show won't be released anytime soon. Bummer.

There are supposed to be 6 in the series, we should have one more coming. Hopefully they saved a great one for last!

1. Brussels '73, 2. Hampton '81, 3. LA Friday '75, 4. Tokyo '90, 5. Light The Fuse '05.

There's still one in the can, but god knows what it will be. This one took forever to release in comparison to the other. The Tokyo release didn't get much talk here, and we ain't exactly talking up this one. So....when's the first 'When Is The Next Archive Release' thread?

Remember that 10 $ cover charge?
I think the Stones missed a great chance to cash in via
tm and Mark Butler etc.

Maybe you should make a thread with that question.

The only exception I would make as an 'older' fan would be a nice DVD of the 1999 tour. To me that was their last splash as a great band.

Like Shepherd's Bush!

maybe the last one is one of the gigs coming.... i think they will do a dvd set or something but no cd. so maybe they safe the audio for a bootleg release?

I'm in the minority I imagine, but I am all for a No Security show being the next release. It's the only tour to have never received official audio or video release, and it was one of their best recent runs.

Hello: theimposter

No, you're not alone. If I had to pick the sixth archive, it would definitively be from 1999. It's the only tour, aside from 1970 (which are generally poor quality) and pre - 1969 (which are also generally poor quality), that I don't have a stereo soundboard recording. All of the existing 1999 boots are either poor mono or audience.

So please,a 1999 stereo soundboard from the EURO portion of No Security, thank you very much.

the stunning stuttgart '99 show is an excellent wide-stereo audience recording.

Hi stonestod:

Yes, you're absolutely right about that particular boot. I have the C2C version of it and it is the best that 1999 has to offer; however,it's not a stereo soundboard which would improve the sound quality.

Do you want the EURO portion because you were there? The 20 April '99 San Jose concert is the one that appears to have been filmed.

I personally think Toronto 99 is one of the best audience boots I have ever heard, and that it's a killer performance as well.
