Wonder who is playing the SG...could it be Mick T's?

Could be Jaggers, he played one in 81/82

I don't remember seeing Ronnie or Mick T using an SG. Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing Keith play one either.

When you see that picture of Sir Michael - he looks perfectly happy - you can't help wondering why he has spent so much energy keeping himself out of there for most of the time.
One week of work a year is too little even for the most hardened, workshy mike!

I wonder of M&K have been doing any writing together.

What Keith mentioned in interviews earlier this year regarding new material was that there were numerous outtakes and ideas left over from ABB, so this could be what will be presented for new material.

He did?

Don Was and maybe some band members most definitely said at the time ABB came out that they released every completed song.

To be honest, if Mick and Keith are so bereft of ideas that they havent come up with a usable song between them in seven years and have to rely on 2004 leftovers or unfinished scraps, then how desperate are you to really hear it?

As I understand it, they're recording NEW songs. Only maybe a couple, though. This is a brief session.

Perhaps every completed song, but a couple of months ago when Keith was talking about the band reconvening this summer to discuss recording possibilities he was talking about things he'd written recently as well as ideas left unfinished from ABB. I will have to find the interview and will post it once I've located it. This is how the Stones have always worked--remember that Start Me Up was originally an outtake from Black and Blue, then once more from Some Girls, but we didn't hear it until '81. Quite often, great songs can be literally years in the making.

Er, what about the entire 1969 tour? Take a look at the Ya Ya's cover.

My guess is that Keith mixes this up with the sessions earlier in the 2000s, when they supposedly recorded 20 songs in Paris, but who knows?

Great to see that little Fender Champ in the background too.

Thanks for the good news. They are recording again. But one week only? That is barely enough to record an EP's worth of material, much less an album. Well, in the old days, it used to be enough to record an album but today?

I'm very much looking forward to the new songs but the thought of another compilation does not exactly fill me with excitement. Here's hoping they will record and release a new album's worth of material nonetheless and don't let the 50th anniversary or a compilation get in its way.

And folks, I guess a new compilation, as uninspired as it may seem, is likely to have a name more creative than 50 Licks.

I reckon they could, even pushing 70, hack an album out in a week.

Yes, they could.

Dylan, over 70, can record an album in a week, ditto Neil Young & Crazy Horse.

I think, if they stripped it down to the fundamentals, they could. Maybe I'm an optimist, but you never know.

Different artists/groups work different, I think.
The Stones seem to play songs a helluva times before they're satisfied, don't they?

They will stay only a week in Paris recording?

Or have they been there for a week now, and may continue next week?

maybe after working on a couple of songs, they will have the appetite to record new album

So many guitars......so few musical ideas

Methinks they should donate half of those to some needy musicians who have something to say

They started this week. Its supposedly just going to be this week as its only a couple of new songs. They're not recording an album.
