I don't remember seeing Ronnie or Mick T using an SG. Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing Keith play one either.

Thanks to with sssoul, we never have to ask ourselves questions like these. There is
always the Ratbag Boogie threads to turn to (Ratbag Boogie

Here's Ronnie with a blue SG in Sheffield and Bergen in 2006 (thanks to Skink for
posting it in the first place)

And Mick Taylor of course, on a picture by Nevis Cameron:

Sounds like you listened to ABB more than once after all.

Ok, just saw them walking out from the
Studio (Keith & Charlie first, Ronnie).
Waiting for Mick.
Keith looks good.We are three guys waiting.

First we had real-time concert updates on IORR...now studio recording updates? We're living in the future.

Isn't it wonderful! Were in Stones Heaven!

and now where are you?

Crap, to think this is or is even remotely near to Stones Heaven is slightly more then depressing. What is Stones purgatory like?

Any MightyRollin50 thread...

You say that, but your actions speak louder than your words. They always do.

Huh. How intellectual.

I wonder of M&K have been doing any writing together.

They were pre-writing together.

What, is that like faxing each other chord changes?

Yes, only without the song.

What Keith mentioned in interviews earlier this year regarding new material was that there were numerous outtakes and ideas left over from ABB, so this could be what will be presented for new material.

He did?

Don Was and maybe some band members most definitely said at the time ABB came out that they released every completed song.

To be honest, if Mick and Keith are so bereft of ideas that they havent come up with a usable song between them in seven years and have to rely on 2004 leftovers or unfinished scraps, then how desperate are you to really hear it?

As I understand it, they're recording NEW songs. Only maybe a couple, though. This is a brief session.

Perhaps every completed song, but a couple of months ago when Keith was talking about the band reconvening this summer to discuss recording possibilities he was talking about things he'd written recently as well as ideas left unfinished from ABB. I will have to find the interview and will post it once I've located it. This is how the Stones have always worked--remember that Start Me Up was originally an outtake from Black and Blue, then once more from Some Girls, but we didn't hear it until '81. Quite often, great songs can be literally years in the making.

My guess is that Keith mixes this up with the sessions earlier in the 2000s, when they supposedly recorded 20 songs in Paris, but who knows?

Those Licks sessions and the Bang sessions were in the early Twenty Hundreds...

I think that there could be a new studio album next year...There is many months to record and an announced Tour next year, so:a Greatest Hits Package with 3/4 new songs in November and a whole studio album of new stuff next spring!

any idea of the final destination of this couple of new songs ?

as mentioned previously, there's a multi-disc (and multimedia) greatest hits package coming out on Universal in about three months. Most likely new songs to be included on it.

Presumably even the Stones realise that its a bit silly to release a record commemorating a 50 year recording career when you havent been in a studio for the last seven of them!

No, 'they' being the full band, not just some people here and there.

...But another compilation after 10 years with an onlyone album in the middle is a little bit "sad" in my opinion...I think that a "current" Band must make new music and the Stones have all the capacity to make it!I know that business, marketing and money are all very important priority for them and their management but I also think that in this moment they could make what they want and make a new "basic" Rock'n'Blues studio album for themselves and for all their millions fans in the world!

P.S.I know that they are a essentially a "Live-Band" but sincerely two album of new stuff in fifteen years is not much...

Yes. Nothing indicative of two LPs and some finished takes from recordings decades ago in 15 years or whatever of that band being a 'current' band as far as a creative band. It's one thing to record a new record, that last one in 2005, and the one before that in 1997 (he Licks tracks don't count) and when the release prior to the last studio LP was a hits comp, well... I could see them saying 'OK, we didn't put all we could have on Forty Licks so let's make it better and call it Fifty Licks'. Still, that's using the same idea, not a new one.

I recall some people wondering, if Forty Licks was celebrating their career at that point, where was the first single? They could lessen the 1971 onward part of their career now with that kind of release since the 1960s had so much going on. And put some better songs on. Respectable? Fool To Cry? Really? Why not Doo Doo Doo Doo and Waiting On A Friend? Things of that nature.

I guess too many false alarms to get all worked up again....lets see what develops, then when some solid news emerges regarding this studio "session" then we can get the machine cranked up again.. deal?

this is gonna be the best stones ever. again.

Rolling Stone magazine already thinks so. They've had their review all typed out, edited and waiting since the last best Stones ever. All they have to do is insert the title of the new recordings and send it to press.

jan wenner or anthony decurtis?..or is it kurt loder again?
