Mr. Leavell flew to Paris for a weeklong recording session that ended last Thursday, and contributed piano and organ parts for two new songs

I suppose these "two new songs" are the strategy to lure us into buying 50 Licks and be featured on that compilation. Ho hum.

2 new songs? 5 years or so since ABB and we get this ho hum lazy effort? They don't care any more. It is obvious.

I'm not Mick, but I can think of a 1000 ways that they could have went out on top and left their fans with something cool. Awful effort that gets an "F".

Haven't heard the two tunes yet (obviously). Hope they're good. But the artwork is just vulgar, and I mean that in the "lacking good taste" sense, not the "obscene" sense. It's really crap. Third rate. Hard to believe the band approved this, or do they just not care anymore?

The idea of fresh, newly-recorded Stones material will always excite me more than digging up outtakes from a time gone by. Being them on. I just wish they were releasing more than two!

Has anyone entertained the idea that the 80-track edition may feature a couple more? Wishful thinking, I know.

The big question about the Paris sessions must be ; was this a trial session to see if they could actually produce something together again or was it the final Stones session ? In the first case we should be very happy that they actually came up with 2 new songs, this is promising. Who knows ?

i dont know if that artwork has a meaning

yet i find cool to mark a 50th anniversary with a touch oh sense of humour
that is how i also read the Grrr title
you know it's good that there is no "tigers out of the cage" on the cover

)

dont have much expectations but hope the two tracks are good

I think the "trial session" was in London last year.

...pretty much...and also the fact that Gorillas are primal...primeval even....look at the definitions of those words and the magnitude/simplicity of the imagery (+ their cheekiness) and you pretty much have their message right their...original and greatest...the Rolling Stones....now what's on this record is another matter entirely.

GRRR = Great Rock and Roll Record. What else could it be?

EDIT: Whoops, wrong thread. But it looks like the other one has degenerated into a bunch of political garbage. I'm running out of places to escape to.
