All this talk of a 50 licks album with a couple of new songs, you all seem to love slagging it off before it's even released, for 1.

and?

Cool thumbs up as seeing them live again is out of the que$tion for me, I look forward to seeing that Paris studio footage most of all! Also hope those 2 new tunes give us something half decent to chew on.

~~ Mr. Leavell flew to Paris for a weeklong recording session that ended last Thursday, and contributed piano and organ parts for two new songs intended for a Stones 50th-anniversary release expected later this year.~~

........

~~ He describes the songs they recorded in Paris as "up-tempo" Jagger/Richards rockers, including one on which Ronnie Wood played slide guitar. "Great hooks. Great energy. Bare bones," ~~

2 new songs. Great! Now here is hoping they do it again 4 times for more one week sessions. Then, they could have 10 songs and the album which people are craving for would be ready to go!

They really should cut more new material now because the energy is there. Who knows how long it'll last until the next 7 year break?

If that greatest hits album comes out in November it seems likely that one of these two new songs will be released as a single very shortly. Perhaps that will be part of the announcement on Tuesday?

This could be good news smiling smiley
But if the songs are similar to the Forty Licks new songs they turn into bad news sad smiley

I hoped so much (in vain) they wouldn't do the same mistake again like on Forty Licks and water down this new compilation with some terrible quickies nobody needs.
There is so much great original material. Like with F.Licks or those 2 on the FF DVD these new ones will most probably only ruin the thing and good stuff will be missing again . .

"My priorities were to do two new songs, that was my minimum. The fact that we got four is great"
Mick Jagger, August 2002 (about Paris sessions)

"Mr. Leavell flew to Paris for a weeklong recording session that ended last Thursday, and contributed piano and organ parts for two new songs intended for a Stones 50th-anniversary release expected later this year"
August 2012 (about Paris Session)

...after 10 years Mick has the same priority for the compilation: two new songs.

Don't need the compilation, put the 2 songs on a vinyl single and that's all.

the key here is going to be finding enough crappy songs to fill out the compilation so that the new songs actually sound decent by comparison.

It's 'output. You're statements hold no weight with such basic grammatical errors.

According a recent article In Vogue about L'wren,Mick is living in Paris ;

"The designer currently lives in Paris with partner Mick Jagger, which could point to the switch being made a permanent one. "

CHUCK LEAVELL TALKS ABOUT NEW ROLLING STONES SONGS
by: Dave Lifton Yesterday

Annette Brown, Getty Images

Veteran keyboardist Chuck Leavell, who has worked with such big names as the Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton and John Mayer, recently spent a week in Paris with old friends. That might not seem like news until you realize that he wasn’t hanging out at the Eiffel Tower, but in a recording studio, and the old friends were the Rolling Stones.

Leavell, who has worked with the Stones since 1982, told the Wall Street Journal that songs he worked on were “uptempo” rockers in the classic Mick Jagger / Keith Richards mode, and that Ron Wood played slide guitar on one of them. “Great hooks. Great energy. Bare bones,” he said, noting that the band only needed a few takes of each.

However, he did not disclose the name of any of the songs, nor would he confirm rumors that the Stones will play four concerts in the fall. That makes sense, given how famously secretive the group is with regard to new projects. But he did say that they also met in New York in April to rehearse, although that’s pretty much been common knowledge.

When not recording or on the road with rock royalty, Leavell runs a tree farm with his wife and is involved with the Mother Nature Network, a website dedicated to environmental causes.
