Pick up the new Scorpions CD, it has a great rendition of Ruby Tuesday, you'll love it.

Agreed: Locked Down is an amazing album.

I would add that City That Care Forgot and Tribal are also good Dr John albums, and that Mac has maintained a good run of recent form. The hype, justifiably, is about Dan Auerbach producing the album.

Wrecking Ball is a great Springsteen album: far better than Working on A Dream.

Sonik Kicks by Paul Weller is pretty tasty.

However, if truth be told, I have gone for some tasty reissues by Ace Records from a blues mail order place in Wales called Redlick: the reissues are as follows:

1. Nobody Wins: Stax Southern Soul 1968 - 1975
2. The Memphis Boys - American Studios 1966 - 1972
3. The Fame Studio Story - 1962 - 1973
4. Evidence - Candi Staten (Muscle Shoals Recordings)

The Heartless Bastards "Arrow."
Mark Lanegan "Blue Funeral."
"Not The Weapon But The Hand" by Steve Hogarth + Richard Barbieri
Black Keys "El Camino."

"The Chimes of Freedom" Bob Dylan Tribute album is great.

Also like the new Paul McCartney album.

El Camino is on my 'get' list.

Yes: I love the Chimes of Freedom set.

How many Dylan cover albums must one man have ? I keep buying them.

It's also had a knock on effect in that its caused me to look and re-evaluate Eric Burdon's career.

If you're a hardcore Scorpions fan, or Dylan fan, or Springsteen fan, or
AC/DC fan, and come at the Stones more or less from one of those directions,
then the following recommendation is not for you.

But if you are a fan of stuff like Hey Negrita and Cherry Oh Baby and
Too Rude and Sex Drive and Rain Fall Down and are able to come at the Stones
from the direction of Bob Marley and James Brown, then I must reiterate my
praise for "Talk that Talk" by Rihanna.

I can't remember loving every single track on an album since "Sticky Fingers"
(I even have one track on Exile I'm not particulary crazy about). Fourteen
very diverse and very innovative tracks, integrating Rih's dancehall/reggae
roots with her gangsta mentality and her radio-oriented smarts. Her stated
goal, just like the Stones, is "music first" and "no filler", and she has
succeeded wildly. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that all fourteen
songs get released as singles and chart (so far four for four). Even though
about half the songs are not quite like anything else that has ever been
heard on the radio before.

- Jagger himself said he thought the Black Keys cd was quite good.

- The new Van Halen disc is also surprisingly strong for a band who did their best to make themselves into a punchline and destroy their legacy over the last 15 years. It may very well be the best VH since 5150.

- Wrecking Ball is Springsteen's best since "The Rising"

You are right, this recommendation is not for me (but at least you were honest with your comments).

New reissues - I did try to stretch a point.

However, Locked Down, El Camino, and Wrecking Ball are all great.

New one by "The Civil Wars": all songs aren't "outstanding",
but love this duo's sound and style !!

Van Halen. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. Very heavy, no keyboards. They should have used Blood and Fire as the first single.

The new Black Keys album is also great, but it sounds a little slick to me - I prefer the last one.

produced by John Reynolds (who was at the helm of her material during the 80s) this is a true return to form
