Keep Up Blues may have been first jammed during the Some Girls sessions in 1977...but from listening to that track side by side with the others...I am 100% convinced from the Sound of Charlie Watts drums...to the sound of Jagger's vocal and his delivery style and the sound of the guitars that this is a "BRIDGES TO BABYLON" outtake..or was RE-CUT during the B2B Sessions and dug out by Don Was.

Bridges was cut in Los Angeles and even the lyrics are dripping with Hollywood/LA references.

Who knows the deal on this track?

There's a fairly common late seventies outtake called "Some People Tell Me." That outtake served as the starting point for the reworked track called "Keep Up Blues." It is not from the BRIDGES sessions. The lyrics, Mick's vocals and various instrumental overdubs are from August-September 2011.

Well, off course the lyrics may be new but the music sounds just like "Some People Tell Me" to me but thats just my opinion...(sorry,William guess I was typing while you were posting but I agree)

But listen to the drums...they are so modern sounding (if 1997) is modern...

I really think that was re-cut in 1996-1997.

Compare the drum sounds of KEEP UP BLUES to the drum sounds of SG, ER, and TATTOO YOU...there is not one cut that has that drum sound...but the entire B2B does.

They included a 1967 instrumental on the Exile disc, so maybe they have included a sneaky mostly if not fully modern recording on SG.

The drums might very well be from 2011, but not 1997. For these weird piece-meal recording sessions since 2009, Mick has sometimes flown Charlie to either his house in France or to LA to play drums when Mick cuts his vocals. Not every time, certainly but some of the time. At least it's actually Charlie playing drums on the track and not Mick like the awful Pro Tools overdubs on "So Divine" that were added to Charlie's original seventies playing.

I'll stick to my guns until this is resolved by someone on this board who has the answer...Listening with matching skills, there is no doubt in my mind, this SG "Bonus Track" was a SG demo re-cut at Ocean Wave Studios in 1996-1997 for the B2B album...I even think the vocal hasn't been touched (meaning not done in 2011)...it is definitely a Mick 1996-1997 vocal...Really, really listen to it, Charlies drums and Mick's style and compare it to the tracks on B2B...listen to the guitar licks vs the 77/78 stuff...that is so Ketih 96/97...not 77/78.

This IS the basis for Keep Up Blues -the guitars and drums are exactly the same except for the intro, that is new. There is a bass overdub and the vocals are new.

Keep Up Blues is all right, but i sure wish they'd kept those original vocals -
Some People Tell Me is ~*such*~ a joyful noise, and it would be brilliant to have it in spiffed-up audio quality

i guess i understand why they might think the original could be hmmm misunderstood,
but still: it's too bad they didn't go with it. oh well, maybe next time!
