As a life long White Sox fan, I am rooting for a Brewers-Tigers World Series. These are two cities can can use a boost, and it stays in the Midwest with two teams that are difficult to dislike. Both teams have been down for a long time. Tigers have had their chances but...

Only the strong survive.

I understand what you're saying, but they didn't make the playoffs for the second straight year in a row. Like the Yankees, the Red Sox have a high payroll and I'm sure the Red Sox organization felt as though they should have made the playoffs, and on top of that blowing a 9-game lead in the wild card race - that would get anyone fired.

Yup that is big dollar ball... put up or get the fk out.... no matter if they play in baseballs toughest division or not... man, when I watch the records/box scores it is just scary to look at the records in that American League East, three 90 game winning teams in one division... wow!! Yes, the Red Sox choke job is the biggest collapse in baseball history. 7-20 in September? All they had to do was play .333 ball for a month, and they're in the playoffs. This season'll make a nice bookend with the 14-game lead that they blew in 1978.

As Denis Leary tweeted yesterday, "For Red Sox fans 33 and younger: this is 1978, without quaaludes and disco."

Raul Ibanez steps to the plate.... and there is action in the bullpen.... it is heating up in Philly on a chilly October evening.......

AND BAM!!!!! IBANEZ HIT A 2 RUN BLAST!!!!! WOW!!!!! PHILLY LEADS 6-3

Bases loaded top of the 9th stlouie down 4-11 on Philly..
Halladay pitched a great game, but the first reliever loaded the bases...
Philly reliever Ryan Madson coming in.... bases loaded...
red birds need 7 to tie... first pitch swinging....
bloop to left, and 2 runs score... 6-11 one out...
runner 2nd 3rd.... one out.... Madsen strikes out.... 2 outs
strike one, strike 2 strike 3.....

And Philly wins game 1 of 5 from stlouie 11-6....

New York may be referred to as "the city that never sleeps" but it ranked 32nd in a recent study that revealed the world’s “most 24-hour cities.”

oh well....

So, in the 32nd ranked city that never sleeps...
The Yankees finally win the game against Detroit,
final score of 9-3 ... after a bit of drama in the
9th inning where Detroit loaded the bases, a couple of
times, and scored a couple of runs... which brought out
the great reliever Mariano Rivera to earn the final out
of the game... as Detroit left the bases loaded... they play again tomorrow

Man, how cool, but heart breaking... in Texas, Cooper Stone, the boy who's fire fighter Dad died falling out of the stands at Texas stadium on July 7th this year, was with Nolan Ryan, and the boy Cooper threw out the first pitch. Nothing can make up for a boy losing his father, but that is a very very nice gesture from the Rangers.
I thought so too. Very tough situation all the way around.

daaaaannnggggg... Verlander pitching to NY in Detroit
Detroit up 5-4 on the Yankees.... top the 8th...
Verlander throwing 101 mph pitches... daaaannnnggg

and Valverde comes in to close out the game for Detroit
and his pitching ball movement is amazing, zing in, zag up,
zip down... and BAM!!! DETROIT WINS and leads the largest payroll
in MLB, the $250 million, "WE WANT TO BUY IT", NY Yankees 2 games to 1.
They play tomorrow, if Detroit does not want to go back to New York, a win will do the trick.

Detroit leads the 3/5 playoff series 2-1 over New York...

....and there goes the cheap skates ($46 million dollar pay roll) Tampa Bay getting knocked out of the playoffs by Texas, thanks (in part) to Texas' Adrian Beltre's THREE HOME RUNS in one game today... even though, in the 9th inning was exciting, TB was coming back, scored a run....alas came up 1 run short...oh well, so much for Underdog... but HUGE PROPS to them for making the playoffs.

In the day's next game Philly beat St Louie and now leads the best of 5 game series 2-1..... they play agin tomorrow...

Right now NY is playing Detroit, as Detroit hope to win and knock the big bad Yankess out of the play off race. Det leads the best of 5 series 2-1.
Right now the Yank are up 4-1, start of the 7th inning...

Also right now Milwaukee, the Brewers are trying to elminate the Arizona Diamond Backs from the play race... Milwaukee leads the series 2-1
Right now Arizona is up 2-0 in the 2nd inning.

SO far it has been well played, well officiated play off baseball.... there have been some spectacular plays, great catches and at least one massive collision(train wreck) at home plate. Man, playing cather in MLB had to be one of the toughest positions in all of sports... in and out of all that gear every inning, involved in every single pitch... up and down and up and down all game, having blocking bad pirches,,, calling pitches... dealing with pitchers.... then there is "yawn, of course he did" if he properly makes the out throwing to 2nd... but "he is a fkn loser" if he misses and the ball sails into the outfield.... this is not to mention catcher is the only position where it is OK to slam into him at full speed, doing everything you can to knock the ball out of his hand...

NY Yankees win 10 - 1 to tie the series at 2 games each heading back to NY.

Curtis Granderson made two of the nicest catches in the outfield last night that you will ever see. Especially that diving catch in the 6th inning. Just brilliant.

As a Tiger fan, I really never thought I could say this...

I officially hate Curtis Granderson.
