I am not.

Did you really have to dredge this thread up? Really?
Other of my friends can't either.
Some of them even say - we used to like Beatles a lot more than Stones, but now it is opposite - we learned to appreciate / love the special Stones rythm (Brown Sugar, JJF etc.).
By the way, what's wrong with my answer?
We got a question - I just answered plain and simple.
It's allowed not to like Beatles.
Don't think BV will be upset.

No no no no no. It's not about your answer - it's that you bumped this stupid thread back up again! AAAAAAAUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Why not. We were up to page 14 in the other thread and getting absolutely no where. Maybe this thread we will finally get an answer to - who likes who and who's better.confused smiley

Most of the Stones are, so why not Stones fans? Culturally speaking, it's not exactly apples and oranges.

I am not a Beatles fan at all, just don`t like their sound and don`t like the whole image thing they have.all that goody good crap.
actually getting a bit sick of seeing Beatles topics popping up,
as far as I am concerned would rather they post them on a Beatles board.

The Beatles do nothing for me, I usually cringe when I hear them and always change channel if they come on. There's undoubtedly some good stuff, but I have a loathing that is now too ingrained for me to take a peek.

We're lucky to have the Stones. They still record, tour and do projects, which makes them more interesting.

When I was a kid, I was a huge Beatles fan. And even though I was only 6 or 7 years-old when they split up, I remember feeling distraught & sort of betrayed.

Now that I'm getting old, I find the Stones have a timelessness to their sound. Plus, there's a feeling of solidarity knowing they are still with us.

I still listen to both, but it's about 10% Beatles vs. 90% Stones.

Happy Labor Day to the U.S. & Canadian fans! smoking smiley

p.s. Sorry I bumped, WELOVETOPLAYTHE...

But to be fair to them, that image is 50 years old and they're kinda stuck with it! They just never really challenged it (maybe apart from John) and it now defines them.

You are right room1009 ,
the image has stuck, and only John had a bit of what the Stones have in spades !!
when I saw Paul Mc at the olympics recently (on tv) completely confirmed my dislike of that style of music, I guess too sing along, too cute.
for me ...Spice Girls, Beatles, Abba, et al....all much the same.
kind of hard to put my finger on it...but I know it does nothing for me.
I like heaps of other bands/artists as well as the Stones , but for me the Stones have a sound and feel that is timeless.

So I guess that means you don't like the live versions of Brown Sugar, Start Me Up, You Can't Always Get What You Want? I'm sure there are other tunes, as well. Because, you know, those are sing alongs, too. Perhaps they're just the right amount of "sing along"?

There's others as well; Honky Tonk Women and Miss You, especially. Not to mention.....eh; Streets of Love

You guess wrong Gumboot, love those songs.
And I don`t think they are especially sing along ,but... YCAGWYW now that is a song worthy of being a singalong tune !
mind you with my singing.... nobody would want to hear it anyway !!

Yes.

I agree.

I never got the whole Beatles vs. Stones thing. Like you had to hate the Beatles to like the Stones or something. They were (are?) two great 60s British pop bands who were friendly rivals, with the emphasis on friendly. The Stones would not have had a path to a future beyond playing blues covers without the Beatles paving the way.

As being intressted in and appreciating music I'm a fan of both of the bands...but as for being a fan of a band I'm a Stones-Fan...you gotta make a choice here...smoking smiley

Yes, and the Stones are very grateful for the Beatles paving the way.

You don't have to make a choice. You can "weave" between the two when the mood suits.
