I love this performance. His voice has such a rough edge, but he also has a tenderness...and his piano is funky and elegant at the same time.

A friend told me that Leon played at Elton John's concert in Baltimore on Sat. March 26th. Too bad I was in West Palm Beach where it was 85>

I'd forgotten that Leon Russell is credited with having given the Muscle Shoals R. Section its nickname, The Swampers, celebrated in Skynerd's "Sweet Home Alabama".

I was bemused by Wyman's comment that he first met Russell at the MONKEY GRIP sessions; I guess Bill wasn't around for his contributions to LET IT BLEED and EXILE.

studidguy2, thanks so much for posting that sublime performance. Wow! What a soul bearing vocal and soulful piano. Love the shades! You can see the reflection of the piano, lovely.

I read somewhere Tom Petty was a ghost-writer of some of his songs early in Tom Petty's career. Not sure if anyone knows anything about that, but I was curious if anyone else had heard that.

In 1975 I was 9, there was a period where every evening I would listen to the hi-fi clock radio in my mom's room just to hear three songs: Bowie's "Fame", Bee Gee's "Jive Talking" and this one. It was sexy as hell to me even though I may not have known what sexy was.
Was this for Mary Mcreary?
