Maybe you noticed: moments before the national anthem when the commentators were showing documentary type info about some of the players, the accompanying music to the documentary footage was the Faces song Ooh La La (with Ronnie Wood on lead vocal...although unfortunately they just kept repeating an instrumental section).

That 'shining star' American song with the Glee chick was horrible.

And now that moaning blonde bimbo, Agulara or whatever her name is - she sounds like she's taking a shit while singing. HORRIBLE!

I dunno. Just the fact that the Supe is in Texas - oh, some question was what time does it start: supposedly 5:30 PM Central Standard Time, which is 6:30PM NYC time...

When does the game start and what timezone is it? I live in Europe (CET - Central European Timezone).

Kickoff in just a couple of minutes, Stoneage.

Thanks, E G! Surprisingly enough, one of my twenty channels actually is showing the game. 0-0, you could believe it was a soccer game! Have no favourites though, mostly looking forward to the half-time entertainment. Even if it isn't the Stones this time!

Greenbay leads 14-0. Is the game over now?

Yeah, according to posts from the first couple of pages, the Packers were named after a meat packing company in Green Bay, Wisconsin from decades ago.

So if the team is owned by the city (commune) Green bay: The Packers is the only communist team in the US? What balls! I will cheer for them (looks like they are winning anyway, 21-9).

By the way, they are showing the game on large TV-screens, for a paying audience in the Globe, Stockholm, Sweden (capacity 14 500). So there is some interest in the sport afterall here in Sweden. Saw the Stones in the Globe (the world's largest spheric building) in the summer of 2003 (part of the Stockholm triology: Olympic Stadium, The Globe and The Cirkus). Caught two of the shows, missed one (Cirkus, seat cap. about 1 000).

Uh, I never thought of it that way!

Yeah, the city owns the team, so I guess the taxpayers are the shareholders.

I have to wonder how much the city is directly involved in the day-to-day operations of the team.
Maybe sweet neo con, or someone else from the area can explain it to us.

Yeah, I went for a shower when halftime started, but caught the last ten minutes (or so) of the performance.

I could have stayed in the shower for a bit longer.

the Packers are a non-profit corporation, owned by shareholders... not sure if all the shareholders are Green Bay citizens. the info is available on this-here interweb somewheres...

[en.wikipedia.org]

oh yeah, they're a pretty good football team too.

no involvement....except the right to CHEER.

they have an annual "shareholder's" meeting in which they fill Lambeau Field
but that's it (i believe). Certificates were sold 10-15 yrs ago for $200 each. I think
that money help expand the stadium seating. I posted a link earlier in this
thread with more info.

Wonder that myself. Considering the size of the offensive and defensive lines for the two teams.
Packers O-Line:6'5"-312lbs
Steelers D-Line:6'3"-303lbs

Steelers O-Line:6'6"-325lbs
Packers D-Line:6'2"-327lbs

The offensive line figures do not include the tight ends, which in both NCAA Div1, and the NFL usually average between 6'4"-6'8" and 240-275

Thanks for the info, Jesse! Maybe someone can fill in about the existense of dopingtests in the NFL? Are there any?
