What is your favorite Stones era?

I know it's sort of asking the same question as favorite song, tour, etc... But what is your favorite era for the Stones? For me it is 1978-1983 because the music, the look and everything else was just right.

I like their 1960s stuff, but having been born in 1970, it was diffucult to relate to. 1970-1977 is also great, but a bit to glam/excessive for me. It all came together for me in late 70s/early 80s thanks to my age and the band output. Tattoo You sent me over the moon! Mick and Keith looked unbelievably cool from 78-83 to.

1984-present...well the less said the better.

I discovered Stones in 1980/81 so "Tattoo You" and the following tour made the first impact on me. The first cut tends to be the deepest! On a broader perspective it's of course the 1968-72 era that really defined the group.

1963 - 1972 or '73.

But 1963 to 1969 is what first comes to mind. My first Stones album was a version of Hot Rocks without Brown Sugar and Wild Horses but with Tell Me (and another track?) so that's an influence. Plus the departure and death of Brian; the arrival of Mick Taylor; Hyde Park; Altamont; the change of decades etc. make a pretty noticeable (if vague) dividing line. So I tend to think of that as an 'era.'

After very careful deliberation, for me, it has to be, 1969 - 1979 ....although I did quite like 81 -82 a bit as well!

I enjoy all era's, but It'll be the Brian years that I'll cherish the most in hindsight. The Last Time, Satisfaction, Get Off Of My Cloud, etc - they're the tracks that made me a fan. Their debut album is still my favourite.
