Does someone on the board have the exact number of shows the Stones have done?
Help very much appreciated - and will be rewarded with a very nice and exclusive poster (we only made 50!).
This is for a reporter who's presently writing his interview with Keith from Paris.

Not the TV-shows. Those are impossible to count!

If the show at Twickenham 22 august 2006 was number 2000,
one must just count from there.
So I guess 2057 seems to be the correct answer.

I have now told the reporter about the 2057 shows, and since he doesn't know sho you are, I'm the one in trouble should this be wrong. But I trust it's the correct number.

There's no definitive number, but it's as close as I can get it, based on a lot of research from several books. I mentioned in August 2006 that the 2,000th show was the second Twickenham gig and that was subsequently reported by the Stones' official site (with a feature which included a brief interview with Keith on the subject) so I suppose you could say it was 'officially' recognised.

So, the final 'official' tally would then come from adding the shows which took place after that date.

However, what one defines as a 'show' is sometimes open to debate.

A gig is a gig. The private shows? Gig. Because "it's a gig". Official show, however...I don't know. People paid and they played. I would count it as a show because they played a show.

London O2 is #147 - then that would make it the 2057th gig.

hmm - didn't the Private Gig Barcelona, Spain, July 12th have a Setlist# ?
it interferes with the setlist numbering.
then its 2058 gigs in all.

I make it 2,057.

There were 5 European shows in 2006 after Twickenham #2 - so that's 2,005.

They then played 21 shows in North America - which takes the total to 2,026.

There were 31 shows in 2007 including the private gig = 2,057.

One show only.. started 48 years ago!
Anyway, we don't even know if some shows were done or not. Recently I read about two shows in Brighton 71, some fonts report just one; imagine the gigs in the sixties.

Oh I counted private shows for the reason youve stated.

What I didnt count were things like TV guest appearances (even those were they played live, eg 'Saturday Night Live', 'MTV Awards 1994'- because they werent 'Rolling Stones shows'), a few songs played at video shoots (such as those for Undercover, Waiting on a Friend, Like A Rolling Stone, etc)

Ah! Gazza! I was curious as to how you were stating it but kind of figured that, those private shows counting. TV shows and odd run throughs aren't a show, as you noted, they're just playing some songs.

So yeah you right.

So when the 50 and counting tour ends, the total
number of gigs will be 2087 (including, Trabendo, Mogador, MSG 121212 and Echoplex)
Unless they do a couple of London club shows in between the Hyde Park shows.

Some South American, australian and european cities are expecting the Stones, too...

I think they will make at least 2100 before this tour is finished.
