Not being a musician, I am probably using the incorrect language to describe what I am trying to say. This is a riff that you have always admired, but involes few chords. In spite of this, it is very effective. My vote goes to Low Down. Any others?
Quote punkfloyd Satisfaction by far! I learned to play that riff when I was 9. Seriously!
yes but of course!!!
also brown sugar; on my god he just slugs his way in there. bam bam. you're knocked out before you even know you're in a fight. too much. glory glory!!
Gotta be 'Satisfaction' if simplicity is emphasized. I learned it at twelve on Christmas night. I got my first guitar that morning. Loved watching 'Take It So Hard' skipstone. God bless, heal, and protect Patti.
I pretty much learned to play guitar to the Jagger guitar songs on Some Girls.
As for Keef riffs, the basic chords of Honky Tonk Women are damn simple, as are all the previously mentioned songs. Any idiot can play the chord changes of HTW. But Keef's lines in the verses of the studio version that he doesn't play live are what make that studio version stand out. Those subtle flourishes are what make Keef riffsongs tricky to play RIGHT.
Gimme Shelter's another one: simple chords (C#-B-A), but the rest of what Keef's doing is jaw-dropping!
