Well, we've had the bests of the worsts of etc etc, havent recently seen one on this topic. It keeps things ticking over and I have a weird interest in what other Stones fans think...for what it's worth my prize goes to...

No Security followed very closely by A Bigger Twang

Steel Wheels

Worst cover art: Definitely B2B (Awful) and Dirty Work (Amazingly tastless) IMO

Both No Security & A Bigger Bang as you stated, also Flashpoint.

No Security was shockingly awful.

Come on now...the fans on No Security was I admit, not too pretty but kinda funny...

There can not even be a debate on this issue; Dirty Work is the worst by far!! I mean really...those colors!? Was that look EVER cool???

Not on the cover but what exactly was the animal leg with a heel on the Tattoo You album jacket?

Something went very wrong after about Undercover. The Stones before then could always be counted on for great art to go with great records. Actually, I think Emotional Rescue was the first pretty bad one.

* Emotional Rescue

* Still Life

* No Security

* Stripped

Never thought Steel Wheels or Flashpoint were poor images in themselves. Both were striking and iconic. However, were they good Stones covers? Flashpoint could be something Don Draper came up with for a oil company in the 60s (still good though) and Steels Wheels a Warhol-ish silkprint for a minimalistic Scandinavian home.

If we´re talking less impressive covers however, I´d might vote for VL, B2B (Oh my God!), Undercover, ER and Still Life.

I really liked Still Life - think I read somewhere Charlie picked it, he likes that sort of art. Gotta agree with most of the abouve though, it's unbelievable how record companies/bands come up with their ideas - Flashpoint...is atrocious and Dirty Work

+1

Loved Still Life cover and even Voodoo Lounge was a great logo.

Terrible covers include Dirty Work, Steel Wheels, No Security, Stripped, Bridges, A Bigger Bang, Flashpoint.... in fact nearly all in the last 20 years.

Quite a feat really!

If I had to choose beetween Flashpoint and Live Licks I´d go for Shine A Light cover,
which is a pretty good one.

Lots of bad ones starting with Dirty Work. Kind of good though, in that at least they are allowing you to 'judge a book by its cover'.

I think if I was forced to pick THE worst, I'll go with the one of the neutered lion.

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ABOUT?

Are we supposed to read between the lines...are the Rolling Stones represented by the lion?

ABB really stunk as well. (and I even LIKE the album itself).

Yeah Bridges To Babylon .....

The Stones shoulda listened to W.C.Fields...Never work with animals or children

And that rear inside cover ya always see when ya first open Bridges...
Those arrows look more like fighter jets and vapour trails screeeemin' over some desert...or maybe that's the message

And that Jump Back cover what's with that one .... Always looks more like da cover of a bleedin' Slade greatest hits package ....

Stone Age, yeah that's a real poor one since it's an obvious theft of the album cover DECCA refused to release 3 years earlier

I find most Rolling Stones covers after 1982....or should I say 1983....to be quite lousy.

But Stripped is good. And for some reason I like Voodoo Lounge.

The worst of the lot would be Flashpoint, 40 Licks, Jump Back, No Security.....and most of all: Live Licks !

NO SECURITY is hands down the worst album cover.

Extend the honors to solo albums and I'd throw in PRIMITIVE COOL with Mick as Gollum. After Francesco Clemente's great picture sleeve for "One Hit (to the Body)" how did PRIMITIVE COOL happen? Utter crap.

I may be the only one who actually likes the Dirty Work cover. I bought it on vinyl when it first came out (not CD), and I got a kick out of the red plastic/cellophane wrapping. I thought that was a clever idea. I think you have to keep that in mind when looking back at it. Did the original CDs come in red wrapping? I don't remember.

I completely agree, it was a stale cover to say the least. I mean, the urban jungle poster art would have made a better cover for vrying out loud (that's what they had on the July 7th cd set if I remember)

Meanwhile I don't think it's that good, I don't find it to be that bad either

There ARE way better photos of the band that should've been used though for the cover

But I wonder if it's the colours surrounding the photo that makes people dislike it that much? After all....it's from 1986; those colours were HOT at the time.

The Steel Wheels cover is boring.

The Dirty Work cover looks kind of cool, as does B2B.

I like to acknowledge that all things are relative... The Stones' cover artwork from mid-1980s has sucked giant elephant b*lls, but so too has their music, lets face it. I mean really.. For album artwork to truly de-value an album (and hence be "bad" cover art), surely this can only happen if the music inside is particularly good? Yes? Hence, "Dirty Work" & "No Security" & "Bridges To Babylon" are instantly ruled insubmissable as evidence, your honour.

Instead, I would like to submit Exhibit A- "Black and Blue".
and Exhibit B- "Love You Live".

Great raw cover.

Good taste is art enemy.
