It looks like Universal is doing all the possible to get Exile at #1 in UK:

- In Amazon the price went down to 5.99 for the regular version and peak 35-13 on the Top 100 with the Deluxe Version at #1.

- In Itunes the whole package (CD 1 + CD 2 + 2 Videos) went from 18.99 to 10.99 yesterday. The album zooms 19-5 on the chart.

On Friday midweeks the album remains at #1 with about 600 copies of difference, the Saturday sales are very strong (about 30-35% of the weeks's total) and pop albums are better sellers than rock albums.

I thought the same thing when I saw the price drops. This should even things up a bit, but Sat sales are always strong with the increased foot traffic in stores. That said, that price drop may keep the Stones in the race. Exile is quite expensive. If it was the same price as a regular record it would have easily been #1.

Still #1 at Amazon in the U.S.

Think the single Rarities disc counts towards Exile? It says Exile On Main St on it. I would think it wouldn't. But that's the one I bought.

In asda in slough uk the deluxe is going for £10-99p
and they got loads in store.
So to help the stones ive hired a mini bus,
so on saturday i be transporting pensioners to asda for free
to buy the exile deluxe edition.
And if they dont buy the cd, they will not get
a lift back home, sorry to be hard but its tough at the top.
So im doing my bit for the stones.
Its only rock n roll, but its costing me ££££££.

Looks like Stones are still number one in UK at this point, with 1 day 15 hours to go until official chart is announced.

here is the link...and below the writeup:

Bob chases number 1, as Stones & Faithless compete on albums
The Rolling Stones, Faithless and Bob Ft Bruno Mars are battling to top the Official Charts this Sunday, according to the latest Official Chart Update.

The reissue of the Stones’ classic Exile On Main Street album is currently leading the way in the Album Chart Update, ahead of Faithless’s The Dance.

Meanwhile, Bob Ft Bruno Mars’ Nothin’ On You is leading the way in the singles market, according to today's Official Chart Update - click left to view the video. In turn, Leeds Leeds Leeds (Marching On Together) by Leeds United Team & Supporters is on the fringes of the top 10 following a Facebook campaign by Leeds fans celebrating their promotion from League One.

That chart doesn't even show the Stones in the Top 5. What the hell is wrong with the UK? Lady GaGa Remix Album?

It`s a shame - other countries can caunt thousands of bought Exile albums, and we here in Russia cannot even buy one((. It`s just not selling in music shops. (I`ve ordered it, btw with noting "95 percent garantee" and now waiting...)

Well each copy sold would equal 3 in most countries.Because there are multiple discs it doesn't count as 1 for each sale. The super deluxe might as well count as 7?That is 3 CD's,3vinyls and one DVD.

>> Because there are multiple discs it doesn't count as 1 for each sale. <<

that's the way the RIAA count things for certifying albums gold, platinum etc
but i believe Billboard counts each set sold as one sale, whether it's the 1-disk or 7-disk version.

Just out of curiosity, what is the actual time for the cut off of sales for the week before they are eligible to make the charts?

Bit hard for them to be in a chart before the album has been released a full week.

Someone somewhere should have the figures about now regardless of when the chart is officially made known to the public.

So does the Exile Rarities count as one copy of Exile sold...or one copy of Exile Rarities sold? Because since it's with one of the reissue copies, the double disc counts as one copy sold.

Right? Of which one though I'm curious.

Didn't see anything saying Polydor in the liner notes of Exile Rarities either.

It's number one in Canada, for week ending May 22, @ HMV, which I think is the largest national retailer. Doesn't necessarily mean number one overall though.
Here is the top 10:
TORONTO - The following is HMV Canada's top 10 CDs based on national sales for the week ending May 22.

CDs

1 Exile on Main Street (Deluxe Edition) _ The Rolling Stones

2 Glee: The Music, Volume 3: Showstoppers _ Glee Cast

3 Distant Relatives _ Nas and Damien "Jr. Gong" Marley

4 Brothers _ The Black Keys

5 Wavin' Flag _ Young Artists for Haiti

6 Infinite Arms _ Band of Horses

7 The Fame Monster _ Lady Gaga

8 My World 2.0 _ Justin Bieber

9 New Inheritors _ Wintersleep

10 "Iron Man 2" Soundtrack _ AC/DC
