Oh well USA You Got The Silver. That'll have to be good enough. Crosby comes up huge at the right time......I guess we don't have to worry about a Canadian invasion of the USA now ehhh.confused smiley

Yeah, I second that. Notice nobody has anything to say to him during handshakes. Bad luck for Ryan Miller with Crosby. He lost the shootout in the first outdoor game in the US two years ago in Buffalo. Now he loses once again on a soft goal that he should have had. Guess what Buffalo plays Crosby and Pittsburg on Tuesday. Lets see if the fans cheer Miller and boo Crosby.

Oh well, we beat them once this Olympics, and that proved a point.

What's that old saying, "they only hate you when you're good"... or something like that. For whatever it's worth, I don't have a particularly strong opinion on Sid either way (I'm a Leafs fan myself-there, take your shots !), but I do think he's a great player who plays a full 200 ft. (ever watch Ovechkin backcheck ?) with a lot of heart.I'm glad he was playing for our team today because the best have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Having said that, I think Nash, Getzlaf or Toews could just as easily have made a play like that at the end. Anyway, he's got a Stanley Cup ring and an Olympic Gold medal at the age of 22 so that sissy seems to be doing something right.

All of Canada is celebrating the men's hockey victory! US was obviously disappointed receiving their silver medals but in reality, they should be proud they got to the finals. Everyone was picking Canada/ Russia for the finals and the US team even had their flights booked for 9am this morning, although the flights were booked before the games started and I beleive the US was ranked 5th.
Not much time for some of the players to celebrate since the NHL starts up again tomorrow!
Overall, a great Olympics for Canada. Didn't win the most medals but we won the most gold medals ever at 14.

A great Winter Olympics for North America, if you think about it; Canada takes most of the Gold, and the US took home the most medals.

...maybe I should reinvest in my Canadian gold mining stocks (LOL).

The Americans don't need to be proud to get to the finals, we got there by beating everyone including Canada. Canada should feel lucky they got to the finals. They should have been eliminated with the loss to the USA.

But so be it, we lost the gold but Ryan Miller was MVP of the tournament. Did Canada prove to be the best team in the world? Not at all.

And the Gold medal for forum member who best demonstrates the Olympic Spirit goes to...The Sicilian. You're right, they should have changed the rules of the tournament so that the preliminary round was sudden death.

On that note, I'm reminded of the World Baseball Championship a couple years ago, when Canada beat a star-studded U.S. team in the preliminary round, but lost to them in the play-offs. Y'know, in retrospect I'm thinking that wasn't fair.

You are a class act, Sicilian, and I'm gonna leave it to you from here on in 'cos there's a street hockey game picking up outside my front door.

We've been through
some things together
With trunks of memories
still to come
We found things to do
in stormy weather
Long may you run.

Cool songs have many meanings, and these words are easily applied to what just went down in vancouver over the past three weeks - I'm sure Neil just grabbed a bunch of new fans, especially athletes who didnt know who he is...

congrats to Canada on the hockey gold - What a game! I was hoping the US would win but hats off to Canada. It was one of those games where nobody really lost really an outstanding game. Have a Molson or two on me Canada. hats off to Vancouver too great job on the entire event! Too bad about the tragedy on the luge track otherwise this would have been the perfect games.
