... Green Lady, i don't know what gripweed meant by that remark and i hope he'll clarify it,
but meanwhile ... a few pages back on this thread Honestman did say he wasn't happy about
people re-posting the shots he's shared without giving him credit.
i don't know if that has anything to do with his departure, but:

a] i think it suggests that he doesn't have a problem with people just saving the photos to admire them in private, and
b] i believe many of us who post photos a lot (or used to, as the case may be) know it doesn't feel good
to invest time, effort, money, etc into sharing stuff that people then blithely repost without crediting their sources.

please people: credit your sources - including the photographers.

and thanks and praises, Honestman, and come back as soon as the spirit moves you

I meant NO disrespect to HMN, I was only pointing out what I thought to be Obvious, if someone wants to save a Picture from the Internet (in case it goes away) thats all one would need to do, HMN had aalready stated in Earlier posts he was having Tech Problems. I Run a website & understand the "Netiquette"

OK, I now see what happened, I wouldn't appreciate that kind of "joke" Either

Just an observation, but some people on the Internet over value themselves ...
Life in general goes on with us AND Without us, not trying to say HMN is in that
category, but really people, all of us JUST MOVE ON when somebody hangs it up for whatever reason, there is always something new, someone to start the next thread

They just begun to use silicon in the 60's.. but the woman above, she didnt noticed yer.. ;-) Thanks to gagi

No there shouldn't be any thanks to "gagi", the thankses goes to Ethan Russel
I made that *exact* scan, from the David Dalton book - with credits included. Shouldn't be too hard for gagi to mention Russel when reposting

For years I also thought "Man this chick has some weird tits" or that the dancing was just kind of slinging them around; but if one looks close you see that it is a matter of shadow covering up part of her breasts and right side of her chest.

Hope you won't take my following post as an offense one ,with ssoul
Could it be possible that you don't get the ins and outs of it ?

I can't speak as if I was Pascal ,but I am sure he won't be upset if I was writing that the uncredits of his sources wasn't the main reason for him to leave the board & close his blog .

it seems you are absolutely haunt/obsseded by the credits.

Honestman isn't my brother or my best friend but it seems you don't realize what weird people -trolls ,call them whatever you want ....did to his blog.

BTW,you're absolutely right about crediting photographers, with ssoul .
But what if I get more than 2 thousand pics from Mick without credits ?

So is it better if I don't post them on IORR,so there is no way from/to me to contribute to Honestman's tread.....................................

Do you remember that once a "photographer" was upset because I've posted his pictures without credits ?
The man didn't put his name on his own photos but he asked me to remove them from the board and then he would send me a photo from his work ...what I did ,like an obedient stupid pupil .
And to end with this ,IMO,you should keep your praises for most serious causes ..wars ,eathquakes or whatever .

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

Its a whole working day Erik Snow.smileys with beer I can understand completely about the credits.
But many times, we all may see on the net, photos without any credits on.
And in this case, I dont know what to do, if is right posting it, or let it out.
Aout HonestMan, I'm very sorry, I loved his awesome thread. I really hope he might get back soon. I miss him, also I barely know him.

I think credits should be posted whenever possible, but if you don't have a credit, it shouldn't prevent you from posting.
Just list it as "no credit available," or whatever, and perhaps someone who knows who deserves the credit will post it.

With all the posters that come & go on this board, and some who occasionally post, it's unreasonable to expect too see credits on every pic.

Yep most pics I found came without a credit. A credit for the photographer if known is nice and can be useful. A credit for whomever scanned the pic is nice but not mandatory in my opinion.

Thanks to Honestman and others for posting great pics. I'm still a bit clueless for the exact reason why he stopped his blog and posts on IORR. Such a shame since we all share the same religion.

A friend of mine is photographer.
He is famous in music field.
He shot the documentary film of stones fans for their first time concert in 1973.
And Mick asked him to make a high definition stage video for his first solo tour in 1988.

I met him last month.
He said his work are sometimes uploaded on the internet or used for bootleg covers, of course without his permission.
He lamented over this problem because he can earn nothing from it.
A credit for photgrapher may show the respect for their works but it doesn't help.
I feel compassion with him, but the problem is that I can't stop scanning and copying.smiling smiley

BTW, he still has a master reel of Humble Pie's live in Tokyo 1973.
This is a great stuff. I remember I was overwhelmed by their Honky Tonk Women.
But rights of this 16mm film are up in the air because both record company and Steve Marriott are not exist.

>> A credit for photgrapher may show the respect for their works but it doesn't help. <<

well, respect for someone whose work grooves us is better than nothing.
and if we identify whose work it is we're posting, there's always a chance that
someone might see it and love it and be moved to buy a publication or print
that does bring some profit to the photographer.
besides which, who took what shots is part of the historical record.

it's true that in some cases we have no way to unearth the information, but it's sorry-making that some people don't even try,
or even wipe out information that's handed to them. i mean: when someone posts due credits,
it's so easy to preserve that information when we save the shots. please
