This can't be right, can it? Mac is booked solid with a solo (solo, as in just Mac, no Bump Band, even) tour for the month of November, and even has half a dozen gigs booked for December when the "Faces" show is supposedly taking place.

I think being able to see Keith, Charlie, and Ron play at a pub would make up for Mick not being around.

Seventies rock band The Faces are reforming for a one-off charity event in October - but without lead singer Rod Stewart.

The reunion fulfills a long-term wish of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, who was The Faces' guitarist until their split in 1975.

Wood will perform alongside former bandmates Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan, plus a selection of guest singers at the Royal Albert Hall in London on October 25.

Frontman Rod Stewart is unable to perform as he will be out of the country on the night.

Ex-Rolling Stone Bill Wyman will replace bassist Ronnie Lane, who died of multiple sclerosis in 1997.

Melanie C, Chris Difford, Georgie Fame, Mick Hucknall and Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings are also expected to perform at the show.

Wood said: "This will be so special for us, staging a reunion for such a wonderful and prestigious event.

"Sadly Ronnie Lane can't be with us, but I'm sure he will be there in spirit, God bless him."

The performance will raise money for the PRS for Music Members' Benevolent Fund which gives financial support to musicians, songwriters and their families.

The band released four albums in the seventies and are famous for hits like Stay With Me and Maybe I'm Amazed.

In 1974 they also released the longest song title yet to make the top 40 with You Can Make Me Dance Sing Or Anything (Even Take The Dog For A Walk, Mend A Fuse, Fold Away The Ironing Board, Or Any Other Domestic Shortcomings).

I wonder if they'll play any Stones numbers?

Get past the purist part of it. Whether it's really The faces or not. Is it really that bad that some good musicians get together for a gig for charity?

Mac is a fine singer, does excellent solo shows as does Woody so Im sure it will be good- especially with Bill on bass and Kenney Jones on drums. Id forego the guest vocalists. Hope they rehearse a couple times...

This is starting to get confusing. The gig is happening according to many reports but there are no details about when or where to buy tickets. Is this someone running a story on a rumor and the major tabloids picking it up or a real show. If it is i want tix.

the charity show is definitely happening, it seems - wyman and his lads will be there - the issue of whether the 3 faces guys will show is another matter....
