Il sole sta per tramontar
Dei bimbi corrono a giocar
Visi che sorridono, ed io son qui
Con le mie lacrime cosi

Con la ricchezza io potrei
Comprare quello che vorrei
Ma la gioia semplice, percio' son qui
Con le mie lacrime cosi

Il sole sta per tramontar
Un'altro giorno se ne va
Tutti si divertono, ed io son qui
Con le mie lacrime cosi

Produced by Andrew Loog Oldham

First released on:
The Rolling Stones - “Con Le Mie Lacrime / Heart Of Stone” 7” single
(Decca Dischi Italia F 22270) Italy, spring 1966

Does anybody know the forename of the guy who translated the lyrics to Italian?
Family name is Danpa.

Don't think this was the finest moment of their recording history. A true novelty.

But it was a great tune to hear two years ago in Milano at the opening show of the European leg... the crowd went mad when they realized it was an Italian song...

"Danpa" is Dante Panuzi, an Italian well known (among those in the business) author of lyrics.

Mostly people don't know why Stones recorded this song on Italian. Answer is simple > therefore Italian record industry (trust of Italian discography labels) had rule, that every record must have songs on domestic language, and in that case record had benefition in exploitation. They had aim to protect Italian authors and interpreters. So that’s why Stones recorded ATGB on this way.

The original...

...and the 2006 live version - Keith's killing himself laughing at Mick's Italian accent...

Just one question - I understand Voja's reasons why they did this in Italian (and I don't think they could have made a better choice of song) - but did they never record anything else in "foreign" - and if not, why not? Mick is brilliant at faking other languages - it shouldn't have been difficult.

You can watch a much better proshot video on www.rollingstones.com (under Virtual Ticket). It is still there.

Thanks for posting this. I now understand the reason why most artits in the sixties have recorded their hits in italian. I remember that , for example, David Bowìe recorded " Space Oddity" in italian ( the song title was " ragazzo solo, ragazza sola"

I like it. I wish the Stones had recorded more songs in languages other than English.
