Somebody tell me though, WHAT did happen that Fogerty will not even speak to Cooke and Clifford?
When Fogerty had his falling out with Saul Zaentz at Fantasy over the issue of copyrights and a large sum of money invested in an offshore bank, it created a major riff within the band.
The rest of the band depended on touring and new album releases for money as they were not songwriters and didn't participate in publishing royalties from the album sales. They needed tour revenue and artist royalties on sales of new releases.
Fogerty was still making a lot of money anyway because even though Saul Zaentz owned the publishing, he still (by law) had to fork a lot of money over to JF for what is called the songwriter share. Also,as the songwriter, JF had substantial income from the performing rights societies, and the others did not. Cooke and Clifford basically sided with Zaentz, as they were getting hurt by Fogerty's actions. Everyone looking after themselves here.
