It's definitely "cut" in Casino Boogie and it's definitely "two tongue kisses" in Star Star.

There's no way Mick and Keith bothered to fact check the slips of cut pieces of paper in the Exile documentary. some intern did it and no one bothered to check, i have no doubt.

You are erroneous in your assumption.

The phrase 'kis tin' appears only once in this discussion.

you're right. sorry. i thought you were speaking generally.

anyone considered the possibility that it's "kissing, caught in Cannes"

One of 18 good songs on EOMS.

The lyric is "protest Music million dollar sad" not grotesque music as stated here, and it is "kissing @#$%& in Cannes"

I would just like to say that Keith's twinned lead vocal on "Casino Boogie" is not only my favorite Keith vocal of all time but one of the highlights for me of Exile on Main Street.

"Coming Down Again" is a close second, but, man, nothin can beat his tone and timing on:

No good, can't speak, wound up, no sleep
Sky diver inside her, slip rope, stunt flyer

Mick is an educated man who was living in France at the time. If the lyric was 'Cannes', surely he would have pronounced it correctly as 'Can'.

Didn't he do exactly that?

Is he perhaps thinking of that other word, cu*t? Mick was highly educated in that field, too...

Don't know what the guys are actually singing but when I visited two weeks ago Cannes, along the other places around the area, I couldn't help but hearing this song ringing in my brains all the time.... And I felt great..smoking smiley

Altogether "Casino Boogie" is to me a quintessential EXILE number - hadn't that been a double album done with such an unique un-compromised feel it most likely would never had been released, along with, say, "Torn & Frayed","Turd On The Run", or "Ventilator BLues", "JUst Wanna See His Face" or "Stop BReaking Down". But it is exactly those kind of songs which make EXILE so special and 'deep', an eternal adventure. If I try to be objective, "Casino Boogie" is the weakest track in the first side (we are talking about vinyl sides here, right?), but still everytime I listen to it, it feels like its the best thing I ever heard.

Yeah, Keith's background - or actually co-lead - vocals are probably the best he has ever done. I don't think rock and roll can be sang any better than it is done here by these two cats. THey just sound so @#$%& brilliant, so damn fresh, edgy and sexy, to put it mildly...

Yeah that's the one. Probably everyone's original image of Exile. And the way their moths are shaped; esp. Jagger's it can only be 'Casino Boogie' they are singing, LOL.
Since Tarle's photos have shown up there are others like one of Charlie playing drums down there; and some of the boys overdubbing the horns.

Sexy, slithering, barrel house blues. Fantastic and I agree, one of the defining tunes of EOMS. Sounds so simple, but it was so complex, probably one of the hardest songs to do live. They never did it. THe lyrics are a snapshot of their life of exile. The slinking guitars that go around each other, like snakes. Taylor is unrelenting. The slide is trance brilliance. Great track that Jagger often dismisses.

Perfect summation. It's just beautiful

Thanks for that wonderful Anita image, Redhotcarpet!
Never seen it before. Wow! May I ask where you found it?

Re: Track Talk: Casino Boogie

I saw that one on Facebook, RB. I think it was posted in the Marianne/Anita group.

She doesn't really look like herself in that pic, imo.

Thanks DP - yes found it.
Super rare image.
It finally answers the question nobody in the universe ever has asked himself (except me, I assume), whether the kitchen at Nellcote had an extra entrance from the hall and down to the basement.

Anita looks freaking radiant, but yes, perhaps a bit less self assure or not knowing the photo being taken I guess. Love it.

It's Charlie who makes it what it is;gives it dynamics, and parts. Its really a vamp in A; even the vocal doesn't vary much, as far as intensity goes ( and Jagger is a master at building a song), but the way Charlie alters the sections; making it inevitable for the piano e.g. to go where it goes.

Yeah I saw him in the other pics too. And besides, mystery guy was just around in England in 1969.
