NEW: BLONDIE CHAPLIN-tour: Mountains and Fjords
Posted by: Addicted ()
Date: April 13, 2009 15:07

Blondie Chaplin is set for a new mini tour of Norway in August.
Preliminary dates of
The Mountains and Fjords tour:

C A N C E L L E D

Unfortunately this tour's had to be cancelled due to other obligations.

Blondie Chaplin worked for two weeks in a NY studio before Easter. He's finising work on the album in Paris, Texas this first part of July.
Blondie is planning an album release later this fall. There's also serious talks going on about the release of his "Fragile Thread" album, recorded several years ago, with some of his Stones pals, like Keith and Ronnie, Bernard and Bobby. I've listened to it - and believe me: It's worth waiting for!

For those who are familiar with his album "Between Us", both "new" albums are more ROCK. There's plenty of good songs, really good songs, there and it really is a shame it's not been released before.

Blondie is severely underappreciated!! Super talented. Wish he toured more.

Wow! Thank you for the news. I love the way in which "Between Us" is mastered. It's got a lot of dynamics. Hopefully, the follow-up album will sound just as good as this one.

Yes - definitely underapreciated! It was amazing to see him spellbind people on his mini tour in Norway before Christmas.
I'm putting together some gigs for him these days. Start early June. Before that he's got a couple of dates in Germany. So, there'll be a few opportunities to see Blondie in Scandinavia and Germany (at lesast) this summer.
We'll publish dates and details about tickets here on iorr. Later!

We need a few more dates in the US - how did he fair here? Was the turn out pretty good??

Someone else has to take care of the US gigs... I'm concentrating on club- and festival jobs for him in Norway and perhaps a date in Sweden.

Info and photos added in first post.
Gigs will be added as soon as they're confirmed.

Yes, the turnout was good. First show - full house - in a club just outside Oslo.
The show he did with Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys (a tribute band) was sold out a week in advance. It took place in Hönefoss, 45 minutes outside Oslo.
But the great thing is - the people who booked him are very keen to have him back.
Here's a photo to illustrate how serious the coverband LBB&tBB are about their Stones passion. Drum kit - made by Charlies drum maker. "Costs half a liver and an entire marriage, and your wages".

With Pieter Kentrop from Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys. Notice Blondie's famous Les Paul gold top...

And here's a few shots from that show.

Who is that singing with Blondie? Also, I didn't fail to notice that Blondie also pays homage to the Plexi!!!

Re: Blondie Chaplin recording...and concert dates Germany and Norway

It's Pieter Kentrop of Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys, a Dutchman from Amsterdam.
And it's the band who uses the plexiglass to write the set lists, not Blondie.

winking smiley ...wonder where they got the idea from...

Re: Blondie Chaplin recording...and concert dates Germany and Norway

Oh, that's a question for beginners...
The tribute band uses the Stones as a pattern all the way. From guitar picks and instruments to stage clothes.
If you look at the photo of the drum kit, you'll see it's an exact copy of Charlie's kit. Made by Charlie's drum maker. And Pieter got a new guitar just so he could play "Don't Stop" on the same guitar as Mick used in 2003. Amps, instruments - the lot - those guys spend a fortune on "being" the Stones two nights a year. (And the rehearsal room looks like a Stones shrine.)

Does Blondie still perform some Beach Boys songs like "Sail On Sailor"? What a thrill it would be to hear him doing "We Got Love".

I believe he did that - Sail On Sailor - for the Dutch TV-programme about The Beach Boys' Holland album... HERE the Dutch people on the board need to be consulted. The Amsterdam clan should know!
I've not heard him doing it live. (Only seen him solo about 10 times, though)

Great! Are there any plans yet for where in Sweden he would play?

Hoping Gothenburg will say yes, because we have a (probably) gig in Halden... Any particular place you'd want him to play? Come on! Don't be shy.

There'll be a show or two in the Oslo region...

Stockholm's my favourite Scandinavian city, but kind of "off Broadway" on the way from Oslo, Halden to Germany... You know what I mean.Gothenburg and Perhaps Malmö or Copenhagen is a possibility, though.
