my first musical memories are the stones and the beatles
i have always liked the stones much more
for me ita all about aftermath to goat's head
with the emphasis on the Brian era
its been oamotically absorbed since age 1 to 42 years old
it part of my dna at this point
also i read the first publishig of spanish tony's book in the 4th grade so I believe it afforded me an intersesting vantage on the music and the men behind it

On TV, I once saw a Japanese say "The Rolling Stones make me happy." That's an important reason for me too. The mentality of this band and this music is happy.

Well I guess, by following them thru thick and thin since 1964 and still
going on, is what you can call a hardcore fan behavior.

They never made nor ever will create a record I do not like.
There simply is no bad Stones record, ok some are nines or eights but mostly tens.
There least best concertis still is more enjoyable and better then any other band.

When you think of the stones a smile appears for some undefined reason.

A mistake in concert is masterly covered as being what the Stones is all about.

Because no day goes by without not putting one stones disc on.

Because BV, amongst others on this board, is, like me, a true Stones fan.

Because of their music.. they are among the best composers of the last century.
Because of they vary... even if they follow the same line, their records are all different; they never make the same atmosphere.
Because of their image, extraodinary photogenic, well-studied bad tase.

One of the main drawback is that their image is, at each time, a little bit flavored with fashion... and the pictures and movies are unfortunatly very datable. My favorite period is their 73-76 tours, but the image are looking so old... even if the sound remains excellent (at least in my hears).
Also they are not virtuoses (great composers are rarely virtuoses), and some people may be deceived when they see them on stage...

I am not the kind of fan to collect something on them.. I got few books, two or three rare vinyls.. but I can travel very far to see them, and I can wait hours to be in front rows.. I know their songs by heart so I rarely listen to them... and as someone nicely says in this forum : "They are the soundtrack of my life".

Otherwise, I think to be a fan of something (especially the Stones ?) gives you the reputation of being a little bit "weird" (if it is not dumb). I cannot and don't want to hide this aspect of my life (just to start to talk about them, I cannot stop) even if I have many and much more "important" hobbies.

To be fan of the Rolling Stones, it is just to have good times and fun. Nothing less, nothing more. We are not silly people, and from what I have read in this forum, we are very rational with "our" Rolling Stones.

I'll echo what SOCIALDISTORTION just said, this song is fabulous in concert!! SO THERE! To each her own, but many Stones fans agree that this is not garbage, rather a real gem. It is a true show stopper, a very nice change of pace.

SOL was super super in Atlantic City which should be part of every show

Either you like SOL or you don't. No big deal. I think it sucks on record, but I found it enjoyable on stage, perhaps
just because they played something new instead of the usual warhorses.

Stones music never gets tired

The fact that I don't think Dirty Work is a terrible album....Makes me a hardcore fan.

I think if you combined this with BV's post and the post about traveling all around to see them and the size of our collections......that pretty much sums up a die-hard.

It's about as soon as the first fall's chill hits getting a big smile as you break out your No Security Varsity jacket and slipping into it even as your wife says aren't ya gonna be hot in that, and just shakin your head cuz you know she doesn't get it. It's smiling whenever you approach your truck with its "STONES62" license plates and Tongue & Lips trailer hitch cover. It's the thrill of unwrapping a new album or a new piece to a growing collection....of proudly wearing a concert t-shirt like a varsity letter earned all those years ago, and having a t-shirt for each holiday of the year! LOL
