The Seven Days version is fantastic. I remember being a proud stones fan back in the day, when that show was aired smiling smiley

Many great, but one I always love when I hear it is his great solo on the live version of Tumbling Dice from the "Stripped" recordings. First released on the Wild Horses single I guess. Wonderful notes, but still plenty "ronnie-raggedness" which suits the Stones very well!

Oh dear. Worried about you, Tumbling Dice...even Blinded by rainbows. Since you seem to be seeking perfection..., I guess there are a lot of Toto-fans on this board.

Worried About You isn't Ronnie.

I love the guitar break in Let Me Go.

...simple but effective.

Watching those videos makes me shake my head in wonder. Where did that guy go?

You know in a Rolling Stone interview a few years ago, Ronnie said he was happy to relegate himself to second banana in the Stones. "Let somebody else call the shots," he said. What kind of man thinks that way?

Zack.... it is a man who is not egocentric, happy with himself, and enjoys being in the Stones so much that he makes sacrifices for the greater good. A gentleman, who loves to party and rock out. Can't fault that, well I guess some can, but hell Ronnie surly seems to love life, so who should judge him.

It just seems that the arrangement gave him free license to let his playing slip so badly. That's just a shame to me, especially when I listen to the Faces and think how much more he could have dones as a Stone.

Dandelion Powderman: Last time I watched the four flicks, it was Ronnie on Worried about you...unfortunately. Guess my humor (perfection and Totofans on this board) was too well hidden...especially since we all get away with almost everything, as long as it is praising Ron-solos 2003-2007!winking smiley

I meant the studio version. The live versions of WAY are imo not of RonnieĀ“s best. I forgot When The Whip Comes Down from Detroit 1978, might be his best ever smiling smiley

Wayne Perkins plays the solo on the studio version of 'Worried About You'.

When Ronnie solos I cringe. He simply does not have the imagination or the fingers to be an effective (and certainly not great) soloist in my book. It is one of the great holes in the band's music. Many, many songs cry out for one. But the Shattered solo comes to mind. It is concise and effective.

i agree - though, I don't think it's his fingers so much as his imagination. you can play lead guitar without really being what I think of as a "soloist." ronnie and keith actually come from the same school of guitar players. soloists "tell a story" with their leads....guys like keith and ronnie are really just playing rehashed, pre-determined figures in various combinations....no harm or shame in that...it's just not really a solo in the classic sense....

She Was Hot (doing a Keith there though smiling smiley )

isn't it keith?

I've also thought "Let Me Go" was keith.

What about his solo on YCAGWYW at the Saitama gig in 2006?

A great one also...

...not according to the reviews at the time from Melody Maker and Sounds, each of which actually lambasted this particular guitar break (and others)!

Additionally, Martin Elliott's book, Complete Recording Sessions, would also allude to it being Ron's guitar and not that of Keith.

regardless, it's one of the most easily-identifiable keith breaks of them all. there ain't a doubt in my mind....

I'm happy to trust your ears on this one!

...all of which might explain why I DO like this much-maligned guitar break so much.

is it really criticized that much? i've always thought it was the perfect keith break...the power is in its economy of notes....and, oh by the by...ronnie could never bend notes like this...that's keith's signature....
