Hampton, VA December 19, 1981. Not to say there haven't been excellent moments in Stones shows since then or even extremely good shows all around, but I don't think they have ever been quite the same since the 1981 tour. A combination of the mileage and the wear and tear, in my opinion.

Baltimore, Maryland, 01 Feb. 2006, was one of the best of the current iteration of the band I have seen.

Second night at 02 Arena 2007. Midnight Rambler sounded like a ghost train hurtling down the tracks to Armageddon. Other than that Brixton Academy 1995.

Has to be October 22nd, 2006 at Zilker Park Austin, Texas in a landslide!

Seeing Ian McGlagen and the Bump Band and The Los Lonely Boys before the Boys came on was fantastic.

Seeing the Greatest Song Set List on The Bigger Bang Tour was awesome too!

Being on the DVD was the topper.

I missed a couple of hundred shows during the last 45 years. So I really can't say. But O2 Arena august 28 2007 was probably one of the great last shows.

I attended the 1st & 2nd shows in Fort Worth, TX. in June 1972.

To this day I've never seen any band (including the Stones) perform better.

The term 'great' covers allot of ground, but for my money it was the last night of BB in NA in Vancouver.

I have been to a lot of concerts, Stones or otherwise, since 69 but this is the only one that had a wierd feel. They picked up on some of it in the documentarty footage of the day. But the show had some feel of sentmentality, finality, emotion, and what was the reason for Keith getting that third song?

It's hard to describe, not a particular song, not how they played...but a strange vibe. I speculate here and no need to rebutt my comments but Keith had hurt himself, Mick had to cancel shows, talk of Keiths performances, documentary played Vancouver as tour ender and I did hear some rumour from the after party they thought that might be it? Could this show have been an emotional 'what if' this is it for them?

i've never understood what all this obsession with "best" is all about. This is music, entertainment - it's not a competition.

2nd night of the No Security Tour in DC blew me away. The first night was vey so-so, the 2nd show was the best Stones show I have ever seen, hands down.

you beat me to it! i can't understand the notion that the stones are the greatest rock'n'roll band or that they are the best, what the hell does that mean, c'mon how can art be the best; Jagger was asked circa 1964 whether he thought the stones were better than the Beatles, he said, "better at what?", which is exactly how i feel when it comes to talk of being the best band bullshit. But i will play along and say the last show of the 1973 tour, after that its all down hill . . .

i guess we can all blame sam cutler....i could be wrong, but before '69 I don't remember anyone talking about "greatest" - well, maybe Ali....

i would certainly say the band had peaked by '73...

ONLY BASED on what I've seen/heard from boots, I'd have to say the show from the official BTB DVD.

Enmore, Sydney March 2003, name another gig which opened with a 13 min Midnight Rambler and later featured a jam with Angus & Malcolm Young.

Case closed, next thread please...............................

STP '72. Mick's birthday. Live history. They played after that, but it's never come together again.
