Hyde Park 1969.

Is that a joke? That show was surely interesting because of several reasons, but the fact is that they were out of tune and out of tempo. There were surely better shows since then. Hundreds of them...

O2 arena London, Aug. 26 2007

Really a great way to end a tour, even a live career.
Way better than many other 2007 shows ( Lyon was great too)

I always though the Stones would go out on an even numbered year, not an odd one. I don't know why.

Certainly not musically or technically but the Hampden Park, Glasgow show from August 2006 certainly had a hell of a rocking atmosphere and I think you can detect that on the BBC broadcast. It had been raining all day and just 5 minutes before the band hit the stage the rain stopped and stayed off. It was also the night Keith got his wrists slapped for lighting up a fag giving rise to a boot called 'No Smoking In Glasgow'.

Second night at 02 Arena 2007. Midnight Rambler sounded like a ghost train hurtling down the tracks to Armageddon. Other than that Brixton Academy 1995.

I would agree but would also add Wembley Arena 29.8.03

ME TOO!
(And I saw most shows on the second leg of the ABB in Europe, including all three at the O2.) There was a dramatic change after Helsinki, when Keith was sick. From Gothenburg and further on, he was in very good shape!

Oslo 2007 is a good number two on the ABB.

I was joking about it being their LAST great show, but I do think it's one of their greatest (I agree with the above comments!). Having said that, to me they peaked live on the spring 1967 European Tour.

They peaked 1967? Let´s face it, it´s been going downhill since Ealing -62.

Most definately. Just listen to the Paris '67 show: the youthful enthusiasm, the adventurous instrumentation, the fact that it was ONLY The Rolling Stones on stage, the song selection (Goin' Home!), etc. Sure, they played "better" later, but I genuinely don't think they were ever more EXCITING than in the Jones era (I certainly can't get excited by those plodding versions of Chuck Berry songs in '69!).

MSG 1969
The absolute pinnacle of the Stones in concert. Nothing will ever top these three shows, it´s all downhill from there.
