So Waddy copied Keith's guitar parts for the final version ? How likely is that ? Besides if anyone can play the guitar and sound exactly like Keith it's...Waddy of course, draw your own conclusions ;-) By the way that guitar part in SOM has to rank among the best (as in creative, distinctive, memorable) on a Stones record this side of 1974 (other than the B&B solos of course)...

Good point ! VL is probably my least favorite album this side of 1989, a tie with ABB maybe, but I can't really think of which songs from the actual album I wouldn't have wanted to listen to at some point so it's really hard to toss songs out, apart from the obvious throwaway boogie tracks like "Mean Disposition" (oops I see some like it, that's fine, each to their o

Looks like these Japanese guys may have been keeping an eye on "Hut Stuff" ;-) So I started listening to my one CDR compilation today (based on jahisnotdead's with a couple of changes, "Tried To Talk Her Into It" by "Still In Love" and "Not The Wait To Go" by "Trouble's a Coming") in the car and it was great for a few reasons, first i

Excellent news out of Washington State ! Vaccine more effective IRL than in the studies, 100% so far vs 95% as there have been no serious cases reported. That's great news...but of course we'll have to see how that goes with the "UK Variant" (20I/501Y.V1) that is now the main "infector" by far in France (76.3% now).

QuoteROPENI Don't think so, if they can't play large stadiums and make lots of money, why bother? For a long time their tours have been just a business to make as much as possible, playing basically the same songs over and over, and COVID won't allow for large gatherings so probably is over.... Yes, making tons of money and playing to massive crowds had to be the main drive given

Thanks for the upgraded version. @zeppo1 - that does indeed sound like the "great percussive and acoustic version" of UC, good catch !

One thing that isn't being discussed much in the media is how efficient the vaccines are IRL, I mean other than the deaths being investigated following the AZ injections, are there any cases of people dying or even getting badly sick (i.e. having to go to hospital) after getting both their shots?

I really like that new version of Juiced too, probably closer to what Keith wanted than the released one or even the FFSO version.

The voice announcing DWSE sounds a lot like the one for YGMR so it's likely for the VL pre-production too ? I think that for Stew the voice was a woman, need to check (EDIT - just checked, a woman for Ivy League and B&R but a man for the others, not always the same voice it seems). And yes as far as we knew Ronnie and family weren't around... Actually I can only hear Mick singing

QuoteNilsHolgersson It must sound depressing to Mick.. a 60th Anniversary of his band.. in his mind he's still 27! Not something he'll want to celebrate When he was promoting Undercover he often said he felt he was 20 like his band! An updated version didn't get peddled out for the 50th and Counting cash grab ;-)

Not sure about the cats but it's pretty clearly an early "One Hit" so it wouldn't make sense to have both, as a side note Rocky Dijon once posted here that DW was called 19 Stitches at some point and had the following songs Strictly Memphis, Nobody's Perfect, Deep Love, Crushed Pearl, You're Too Much, Treat Me Like a Fool, Some of Us Are On Our Knees, Your Love, and

Quotejbwelda I was under the impression that pretty much the entire audio score was redone later in the studio. At least the "official" version. I understand it was pretty dire in person and cleaned up considerably for release. jb You must be thinking "Ger Yer Ya Yas Out" that was indeed VERY heavily overdubbed ! As for HP69, there was no real "official" vers

Quotebitusa2012 Quotegotdablouse Yes that was my first thought on hearing it, especially since it was said to be the first song they worked on for B2B at the end of 96. I wonder why Keith took a crack at the vocal though if it was a "real" collaboration. As for DW, yes it could have been very different, I suppose they decided to stick to the "dirty" songs for a common theme

Great "event" but horrible sound/performance, there's no excuse for out of tune guitars. Each time (rarely) I think of HP69 it reminds of these comments by various musicians/producers that say that the in the Stones can sound like the worst garage band for hours and then all of a sudden it "clicks"...not sure it did at HP69!

QuoteGasLightStreet They must have felt something somewhere to finish and release Living In A Ghost Town, which is the best thing they've done in 300 years. There was what, a 12" single and that was it? I can't remember. Not exactly something to burn the charts up with physical sales if that's still someone's goal which is basically pointless.
