That table needs updating, "Ivy League" of course, "Dog Shit" is also a new vocal as well as "Still In Love" or even "Deep Love", etc...

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotegeorgelicks QuoteTell that to Paul McCartney. Since 2006, he's released 4 albums of completely new material, one cover album, 2 classical(!) albums, one 'super group' album, and has launched his own (arguably better than the Stones) Archives line. All while touring like mad. Or if we want someone not exactly on the same level as the Stones, let's lo

Quotepeoplewitheyes XXX]This is an interesting analysis too Not interesting at all, in fact it's a shameless word for word copy from collectorsreview BEFORE it was corrected for errors that were pointed out here and acknowledged by the author in this very thread!

Quotegotdablouse Haven't we discussed this song recently in a TT ?! Anyway, yes, I'm a sucker for a funky grove but this song being one of the rare (only?) Stones song without a melody, it quickly becomes boring. I think I remember reading in early 1992 in Dieter Hoffmann's Weissbuch that it started as a jam in Tokyo during the SW tour...I suppose some tapes of that must have &q

There is ton a great material on there but one song I'm really digging is this particular version of "Eliza", that guitar (Keith ?) that starts the song is really great. It's a bit like the one on "Can't Cut the Mustard"...that turned into "Had it With You"...which probably caused "Eliza" to be canned even though they had revived it at the be

Lucky you Are there any entries for "unverified songs" in the later editions like those mentioned in Karnbach's book ? I'm guessing not since there wouldn't be much to say about them...but then he did mention "Ready Yourself" or "Giving It Up" in 1990 when they didn't circulate.

Thanks, I didn't realize there was a PDF version (like Aeppli's 2002 book that's on a CDR he sold on his site at the time) that would indeed make searches really fast, is it still available for sale ?

Thanks, the three of them, way to go ! Good to hear Keith was given a copy, he probably didn't buy a boatload like Tarlé's book on Exile to hand out to his friends though ;-) Problem with adding the FFSO tracks is that most of it will be guesswork like we did here, since they didn't pop out as part of sessions, like say "Ready Yourself" with the 2006 CM tape. If I r

Has anyone here owned the three editions of Dieter Hoffman's "Weissbuch" ? The first one (one volume) came out in 1991 and I spent hours browsing through it at the Virgin store on Oxford Street in early 1992. I remember hearing for the fist time about the SW outtakes "Ready Yourself", "Giving It Up" and "For Your Precious Love" there as well of the

@atsu69 - I really enjoyed your detailed write-up here (translated with Google, pretty well too !). It brings back many memories of my own "history" with the Stones' outtakes ;-) I see you think that "Don't Lie To Me" was from the TA rehearsals with Jeff Beck, Nico does say it was played there (unverified though), I'll have to give it another listen. Oh and

Hopefully! I don't remember when we first heard about all these unreleased SW songs, in Karnbach's book in 97? I've got the feeling it might have been before but I'm not sure where...I don't think ME's 1990 book referenced them, maybe "For your Precious Love" ? I remember that in the DH's Weissbuch that I spent hours reading at HMV on Oxford Street

Still remember where I was when I read that article on a Friday evening after picking up RS at my favorite press booth on the Champs-Elysées not very far from the Virgin Megastore. Some people hear premises of "Highwire" in "Danger Up Ahead"...it's not very obvious but there is a bit there I guess. Maybe we'll get more clues if "Steel Wheels" outtakes su

Haven't A/B'd them but "02 Gimme Shelter (alt vocals)" sounds like the infamous "Keith on vocals" version with a very distorted vocal panned to the left. You have to wonder why Glyn Johns had that on his tapes, if in fact he did ;-)

Quotebarbabang What is wrong with kowalski pointing out that it is mp3? It is. Upcoverted or whatever to flac, but it sound good and it is great to hear, but He can make this point, why not, why make it personal, it is not black or white. Why not enjoy the music You can still enjoy the music mp3 or not , it's the music, and that is great to hear. "obviously low bitrate MP3s"

Low bitrate MP3s have obvious artifacts, not some vague "metallic ringing or graininess" but since you've been unable to point out anything specific that would spoil any normal person's listening experience it's obviously not worth wasting more time on your comments. Best for you to go back to Qobuz and I'll go back to updating the "Essential Boots" while l

Great info, thanks, some mystery remains then...are there any songs from that 30' sbd tape that haven't made it or are they on the acetate too ? In any case it would be lovely to have an official release, much more interesting IMHO than all these recent shows with more or less the same songs (don't get me wrong it's fine when you're at a show) and waning skills (Keith

"The rehearsals from 2012 with Bill and Mick Taylor." didn't Bill complain that he was told he knew the stuff by heart and he didn't need to rehearse with them? Now they did rehearse with Taylor in Bondy in 2014 but that's unlikely to ever see the light of day. But Mocambo, yes please! Would be way more interesting than all these nondescript "from the vaults"

Especially that part : "But Engler says don’t expect to get any discounts from the performers themselves, who are used to being and living like the rock stars they are. “They’re all spoiled. They get overpaid already. They’re not cutting anyone a break. It’s pay up or shut up or move over"! I'm not sure about that actually... there might be a "reset" of sorts after 25

Based on what's said here it doesn't sound like Mick had a lot of involvement with writing TITN...but there is a version with his vocals on it that "sounded terrible" according to Keith, naturally. Maybe we'll get that on the next FFSO volumes if/when they make it to us.
