Pardon the similarity of this thread to my previous one, but after thinking about the concept of the Stones' soundchecks over the years, it struck me that it would interesting to learn what songs over the recorded Stones' history that the Stones have soundchecked but not played during various tours, not just 2013-2014. Again, examples are: 1994 - DC opener - Slave soundchecked but

Is anyone (perhaps BV, since he made most shows) aware of any songs that the Stones played at soundcheck but did not play during the 2013-2014 tours? It would be interesting to note, because there have been some "close" songs in the past with 1999 - Around and Around - Sacremento (maybe?) soundcheck 2002 - Soul Survivor - Miami, Florida (maybe?) soundcheck Anyone know of an

QuoteRockman What is the source of subject comment? Yeah would wanna read that one tooooooooo ... where is it ???? From October 12, 1969 thru December 21, 1969, the Lyceum hosted, among many others, the following: October 12 - Led Zeppelin December 15 - John Lennon w/ George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and a host of others December 21 - the Stones That's a pretty impressive run within 70 days! Anyone know of other bands that played there during this tenure?

The best Exile outtakes besides the Montreux rehearsal songs, not jams, are the instrumental outtakes with Nicky which include stuff like Rip This Joint with a SEARING slide from Mick Taylor.

I agree with your post. I do think that reworking some songs would be great, though it can backfire - 19th Nervous from MSG 2005. Interesting, but a shell of the original. Hell, play Highwire. Play a 15-minute jam of Sex Drive into Suck on the Jugular. Hell, play Driving Too Fast.

Quotegotdablouse Agreed, the backing of additional musicians/several producers is certainly what made B2B stand out (ok, it has a few more memorable songs too) compared to VL and ABB. I disagree. I think that B2B was the worst LP the Stones have ever released of new material. The best moments, Saint of Me, Out of Control, and Already Over Me are B-level tracks at best. VL had Love is Stron

I have always like You Got Me Rocking, and it, along with Rough Justice, Driving Too Fast, Suck on the Jugular, Saint of Me, and Love is Strong work in any era of the Stones. YGMR is IORR part 2. It is unreal how so many on this list want to hear Gomper or some crap like Out of Time (which Jagger himself called crap), but let them throw in a tune from after 78, and you'd think the band

QuoteHis Majesty At best I think that some songs might have evolved from jams that Brian would sometimes have been involved in. There's so many possible scenarios for a direct influence to happen, intentional or otherwise. It doesn't have to be this big thing of someone else writing something and presenting it. I agree with you here, as BJ has always seemed more of a guy who "

I did the pink and green in honor of His Majesty. If Spanish Tony's Up and Down book is now to be relied upon as history, then let me dust it off and begin to cite. Here's the emphasis - Brian had some moments, but once the band became bigger, he became a liability, much like Bob Stinson with the Replacements or even Ronnie on the 81-82 tour. The romanticism of Brian will alway

As I said in another thread, it is not Gomper which got them here to where we have this list, and which makes us talk about them. What is it? JJF/HTW/BS/TD/MY/SMU/YCAGWYW/SAT/IORR/SFD/MR/GS. These are the songs which propelled the Stones into being cultural icons. These are what 80% of the paying audience comes to hear, because when the Stones do these right, such is of the Holy Grail of Rock

Having been around a long time, I am not buying what many hereon are selling. Everyone says Brian has been so "maligned" thru the years, or marginalized thru the years. Horse hockey! A motion picture, a group named after him, and book after book after book written about him? Maligned and marginalized? REALLY? C'mon! He was a founder but his input (for all real purposes) into

For those who seem to be tired of hearing the same old songs each night - remember, it is those songs that got the Stones where they are. While I have hoped, begged, and prayed for them to play I Just Wanna See His Face, Jigsaw Puzzle, Turd on the Run, and Citadel, it is songs like Start Me Up, Miss You, Angie, It's Only Rock and Roll, Tumbling Dice, and the holy quad of Satisfaction/JJF/HT
