QuoteStonesNYc Wasted? Ronnie has been a much more prolific artist since the mid seventies than either Jagger or Richards. Mick and Keith have been resigned to performing greatest hits tours for past 25 years. and they signed Ronnie to perform those greatest hits tours for them

I guess "wasted" is the wrong term, but I'd said he made suboptimal use of his talent. In some way his career has been a sideman's career (an important sideman but a sideman non the less). On the other hand: maybe his basic talent is/was to be a sideman. Sure he somehow saved the Stones and still does save them since he's doing the guitar work that Keith is not willing/ab

QuoteErik_Snow QuoteHappy Jack It's neat that Dylan is releasing all of these 1965 Live concerts, but are they in better quality than the sourced bootlegs, or is this mearly a legit release of the bootlegs (namely the electric era boots, most of which sound rough). Many of the acoustic 1965 performances are new to circulation, but the electric era recordings are same quality or worse than

The best Stones live album since YaYas (not counting the From The Vaults series). The only song that's a let down (and a very big let down) is Like A Rolling Stone! Someone should have told them that this is NOT a pop song

Quotejlowe Fair point Slewan. A bit ironic though when you think that for the past 30 odd years Dylan has tended to record his albums VERY QUICKLY. You get the impression that if the first take is ok, that will do.Cuts down on recording costs. may be true – but still he produces quite a few alternate takes, outtakes etc – see for example Bootleg Series 8/Tell Tale Signs covering the period 19

just randomly pick out a dozen classical blues songs, get in the studio, record them and put them out on a record! Where's the problem? Bob Dylan's coving Sinatra with marvelous results (you have to see/hear him sing that stuff live)

QuoteCristiano Radtke First Listen: Bob Dylan, 'The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12' as a long time collector, I'd say it's rather underwhelming. But then there's this Visions of Johanna that has never been bootlegged before. It's so f##king amazing!

QuoteTurner68 Quoteslewan what really saved the Stones is that Mick Jagger's various attempts to launch a successful solo career all failed (and Ronnie needed a steady job too) interesting to wonder what would have happened if he hadn't returned to the stones and the rest had continued recording, perhaps recruiting a new singer. most likely we'd now discuss what happened if Ja
